On Sunday evening Nick Blackburn took the mound against the New York Yankees and right from the start you could tell that something was wrong with him. After one out in the top of the second inning Blackburn had to leave because of a strained right forearm. Blackburn got Robinson Cano to ground out and then proceeded to walk the bases loaded. This is when pitching coach Rick Anderson and trainer Dave Pruemer finally made the decision to confront Blackburn and subsequently take him out.
The injury was officially charachterized as a right lateral forearm strain and manager Ron Gardenhire did say that Blackburn will not make his next start. The Twins also added that Blackburn will be re- evaluated Monday, although I don’t really know why, Blackburn will be headed to the 15 day DL.
