Blackburn's MRI normal, Thomas in lineup

A long standing love affair with Francisco Liriano comes to an end?

Francisco Liriano (credits below) Francisco Liriano is akin to that crazy woman that most men have had a fleeting relationship with throughout their adult lives.  She comes and she goes, due to an inexplicable dose of craziness interspersed through some really amazing stretches.  Things may have started out great but once the crazy comes out it can never be truly killed off. ...

Hendriks' strong start secures spot in rotation

MINNEAPOLIS Liam Hendriks is making his case to be known as more than just "the kid with food poisoning." That's what Twins general manager Terry Ryan called Hendriks earlier this week, as the 23-year-old right-hander missed his first start of the 2012 season due to food poisoning in Baltimore. But Hendriks took the mound Sunday at Target Field against the visiting...

Twins, Swarzak seek repeat of Sunday's outing

Since opening two years ago, Target Field has been a house of misery for the Texas Rangers. While they appear to have the right man taking the mound to pick up a rare win there, their offense may be the bigger concern in Minnesota. Scheduled starter Matt Harrison tries to lead the Rangers to their second victory at Target Field in Friday night's series opener against the Twins...

Hrbek statue unveiled at Target Field

MINNEAPOLIS Arms extended, feet off the ground and a smile on his face. That's how Kent Hrbek will forever be remembered the bronze version of him, at least. The Minnesota Twins unveiled Hrbek's statue before Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers. It is located outside of Gate 14, which also bears Hrbek's number. As Hrbek, a Bloomington, Minn., native, said...

Sansevere: Lynx offer relief for Minnesota fans

The Twins rallied for wins in back-to-back games against the Angels. It was fun to watch their bats come alive. It also was a reminder that the Twins are likely to fall behind in many games this season. Minnesota already has lost Scott Baker for the season with an elbow issue, and what's left of the starting rotation isn't exactly filled with aces. It could be another difficult...

Twins claim OF Thomas off waivers

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins placed starting pitcher Scott Baker on the 60-day disabled list. Baker needs surgery on his right elbow and is out for the season. Thomas had no plate appearances with the Tigers this season, but appeared in three games before being designated...

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Josh Hamilton's two-run homer in the eighth capped a three-run inning for the Texas Rangers and set up Joe Nathan for the save against his former team in a 4-3 victory on Sunday over the Twins, their first series sweep in Minnesota since 1999. Glen Perkins walked Ian Kinsler to start the eighth, and Elvis Andrus followed with a triple to bring the Rangers...

Tater Trot Tracker: Trot Times for April 12 by Larry Granillo

It was the first real partial slate of games on the young season. As a result, only eighteen teams suited up on Thursday. It was an abbreviated schedule, sure, but that doesn't explain the 11 home runs hit across the league. Maybe it was the weather. Maybe it was dominant pitching. Or maybe it was just getaway day excitement. It's impossible to say. Whatever the case...
