Found May 03, 2013 on Monkey with a Halo:
Joe Blanton showed up tonight.  The rest of the Angels? Nope.  Joe came in and threw 8 strong innings (an Angels first) giving up 2 earned runs.  Chris Tillman, the Fountain Valley High kid, just wanted it more.  He came in and shutdown the Halos through 8 innings, giving up only 3 hits.  The Big Four combined to go 2- 14, with Pujols’ homer coming too little too late in the 9th inning. Angel fans expected big things with the Orioles coming into town.  Maybe Josh would hit four homers again, maybe Trout would miraculously rob another homerun.  But then, we were reminded that all happened in Baltimore, not Anaheim. Angels 1, Orioles 5   Game Notes --Orioles catcher Matt Wieters pulled the ol’ “pretend there’s not gonna be a throw to the plate” on Trout, and got him out standing up in the 1st inning.  If Trout slides he’s safe. --Brasier gave up the same amount of earned runs as Blanton did, except Brasier threw one inning, and Joe threw eight.  When the heck is Ryan Madson going be healthy!?...and the rest of the bullpen for that matter. --Pujols hit his 5th homer of the season in the 9th inning. This time last year he had 0. --Now with Blanton back on track, what does Sosh do with Garrett Richards? Halo A-Holes of the Game Insert the other six guys in the starting lineup.  Uhhh, yea...go ahead and put Sosh in there too.

An Open Letter to Arte Moreno on the Issue of Buttercup

By Jessica Grey, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer -  Dear Arte, I’m sure by now you’ve realized that many of the Angels faithful have a problem with the playing of Build Me Up, Buttercup by The Foundations during the seventh inning.  And by “problem” I mean the absolute hatred and revulsion that most hardcore Angels fans feel toward this song. And it’s really a pity...

The Angels bullpen is a disaster

There is a lot wrong with the LA Angels. Instead of being the World Series contender many thought they would be, the Halos have struggled to a 10-17 record and are already on the verge of having to declare 2013 a lost season. The problem that gets the most attention is Josh Hamilton. While he is having a miserable season, he attracts the attention simply based on brand name recognition...

Angels RP Scott Downs suffers rib injury

The Los Angeles Angels don't seem to be having any more luck than the Dodgers when it comes to pitcher health this season. Reliever Scott Downs was forced to leave the Angels' 5-4 win over the Athletics on Wednesday night with a rib injury, which could mean the Angels will have used nineteen - yes, nineteen - pitchers this season by the end of Thursday's game against...

Searching for talent at the Angels' Triple-A affiliate

This past weekend, I decided to attend a couple AAA games for the Angels, mostly due to the convenience of only having to travel two hours to see them play in Sacramento, but also to get a better idea as to what they have to offer in terms of pitching and hitting.  I can’t say I was terribly surprised by the results, but they were considerably less optimistic than even I could...

Angels call May Day, hope the schedule can salvage their season

Sometimes being smart sucks. For instance, back when the season began I wrote about how the April schedule for our beloved Halos looked particularly brutal. Thanks to a poor rotation and an incompetent bullpen, I ended up looking pretty smart. I also ended up with an ulcer because I really didn't want to be right about that and it is now stressing me out. But sometimes being...
