MMO reader âBoomerâ shared a link to the Toronto Star who reports that Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos has flown to Nashville to meet with R.A. Dickey at his home to work out an extension deal.
As reflected in his hands-on style, Jaysâ GM Alex Anthopoulos prefers to meet players face-to-face whenever an important crossroads arrives. Anthopoulos is believed to have met with Dickey at his home. Reportedly, the Jays have been able to agree on the extension with Dickey, likely for more than the $26 million, two years, he had been seeking from the Mets, but still a bargain for three years compared to recent free agents Ani...

How The Mets Seduced And Swayed The Fanbase
A Marked Man: Dickey at the Mets Holiday Party.
The Mets havenât done many things right in the last half decade, and God knows theyâve paid the price with plenty of bad press and a sorely tarnished image. R.A. Dickey and the Price of a Window
The Mets got involved in contract extension negotiations with R.A. Dickey, and Dickeyâs requested price seemed to be reasonable, but for whatever reason, the Mets didnât want to pay it. Possibly because they donât trust Dickey in the longer term, possibly because they donât think theyâre ready to win, possibly because of a blend of those reasons, or for neither of those...

Report: R.A. Dickey âa Handful,â âFar From Belovedâ As Mets Look to Move Him
The dominating storyline of R.A. Dickey has been that of a plucky knuckleballer who beats the odds.
Dickeyâs rise past childhood abuse through an uneven baseball career to winning last yearâs National League Cy Young award has made him a folk hero in New York. But donât think that means everyone loves Dickey.
Ken Davidoff of the New York Post writes that, while Dickey is loved...

why trading Dickey was the right move for the Mets
Trading your ace right after he won 20 games and the Cy Young award is never a popular move. But for the Mets, this was a great trade. Below are 5 reasons why, as well as why this was good for the Jays and Dickey himself.
1. First off, the Mets are rebuilding. They are not contending in 2013, with Dickey or without him. With him, best case scenario they win 83 games. They are in...

WAR for Knuckleballers
As you probably know, there are multiple ways to calculate WAR, with our version (sometimes referred to as fWAR) and Baseball-Referenceâs version (or rWAR/bWAR, depending on who is citing it) being the two most popular.
