? Mike Watters-USA TODAY Sports

After a few great winning days in a row, the organization ran into some trouble on Sunday (and Monday).

In fact, they were almost swept, if not for a certain team winning the first half title. Let’s start with Buffalo and work our way down.

Triple-A:

The Buffalo Bisons fell 7-4 to the Syracuse Mets, bringing their season record to 31-38. For the series, they lost four of six games.

The Blue Jays Nation Player of the Game: Jordan Luplow

If the 29-year-old right-handed batting outfielder can get hot, that’d be a huge boost to the Blue Jays depth.

On Sunday afternoon, he went 1 for 2 with two walks and his fourth home run of the season.

For the year, he’s slashing .231/.317/.407 in 123 plate appearances. He has a solid 10.6 BB% and a 15.4 K% for a 79 wRC+ with the Bisons.

He could be an option for the Jays if an outfielder is injured.

Players worth mentioning:

Otto López had a good day at the plate, going 2-5 with his fifth double of the season. He’s now slashing .251/.314/.302  with eight extra base hits and a 57 wRC+. He’s been slashing a tick under .300 since the start of May.

L.J. Talley also had a two-hit game, going 2-4 with two singles. They 26-year-old utility player is slashing .252/.367/.366 with two homers in 147 plate appearances. Like López, he had a tough start, but has been better the past month or so.

The Blue Jays Nation Player of the Game: Leo Jimenez

Leo Jimenez continues to have a good season, going 2-4 in the first game of the double header. He hit his 20th double of the season and struck out once.

Including the second game of the double header, Jimenez is slashing .301/.361/.451 with four homers in 169 plate appearances. He has a 120 wRC+, and has put his name back into focus.

Players worth mentioning:

Adam Kloffenstein nearly had a quality start, finishing with a line of 5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K. It was his first tough start in awhile, and he now has a 3.02 ERA and 3.84 FIP in 62.2 innings pitched in New Hampshire. He could well earn a call-up to Buffalo soon.

Double-A, Game 2:

The Fisher Cats also lost the second game of the double-header, this time by a score of 5-2. This brings their record to 32-30. They only registered two hits.

The Blue Jays Nation Player of the Game: Orelvis Martinez

The 21-year-old third baseman/shortstop hit his organization-leading 17th home run of the season, while also drawing a walk.

On the season, he’s slashing .214/.314/.520 with 17 homers in 230 plate appearances. What’s more impressive is his drop in K%, as it sits at 20.9% (compared to 28.5% last season). His BB% also ticked up to 12.2%.

He continues to stay hot, which is great for his development.

Players worth mentioning:

Rainer Nuñez is only batting .184 with New Hampshire, but he drew two walks in his three plate appearances in the second game of the double-header on Sunday.

Leo Jimenez is back. In this game, he walked and hit his 11th double of the season.

Setting up for next week’s Minor League Reports:

On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bisons start a series against the Yankees Triple-A affiliate, the Scranton Wilkes Barre RailRiders. The first half will conclude after the series ends on Sunday.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats will also take on a Yankees affiliate, as they take on the Somerset Patriots. With two losses on Sunday, they sit seven games back of Somerset for first, meaning that they have been eliminated from contending for the first half title.

The Vancouver Canadians will take on the Eugene Emeralds this upcoming week. Their first half season ends after the game on Thursday.

The Dunedin Blue Jays host the Clearwater Threshers this upcoming week. It’s worth noting there’s a massive storm in the area, so it may be a few days before they play another game. The same goes for the FCL team, as well as the DSL team.
