The Toronto Blue Jays have placed right-handed reliever
Sergio Santos on the 15-day disabled list with a strained triceps in this
throwing arm, but the team is expected to activate third baseman Brett Lawrie
from the DL today, according to Mike Wilner of 590 the FAN.

Santos has been experiencing discomfort in his right triceps
since spring training. While he’s been able to pitch effectively so far for
Toronto, there is apparently enough not right that the Blue Jays want to shut
him down for a while in order to get him fully healthy.
Lawrie suffered his rib cage injury during spring training
while he was playing for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic. It required him to start the season on the DL, and he’s since completed two minor league
rehab games with the Blue Jays’ Double-A affiliate.
The talk of those minor league games was that Lawrie was
manning second base instead of his normal position of third. While general
manager Alex Anthopoulos hasn’t ruled out using Lawrie at second every once in
a while, he views him as primarily a third baseman.

The Toronto Blue Jays signed infielder Munenori Kawasaki on the 02nd of March during spring training without any fan fare or media attention. Kawasaki had played 61 games for the Seattle Mariners batting under the Mendoza line after a successful career in the Japan Pacific League where he won two Gold Glove awards. Kawasaki was assigned to Triple A without much thought as minor league...
On Sunday, we heard that Brett Lawrie was playing 2B for Single-A Dunedin so the Jays can see how he looks at the bag in order to determine if he can indeed play the #4 position on the big league club. This move intrigued me quite a bit. I have no doubt that he could do it and make a successful transition considering how much of an athlete he is AND he started playing there in Milwaukee’s...
2012 International League MVP Mauro Gomez played like the IL’s top player Monday night, going 4-4 from the plate with 2 home runs and 3 RBI’s as he helped guide the Bisons to a 6-1 win over Syracuse.
After Herd starter Claudio Vargas pitched seven innings of one-run ball, Buffalo’s bats finally woke up in the top of the 8th, scoring five runs to break a 1-1 tie.
How do you overcome an injury to your superstar shortstop? Shift another potential superstar to second base, let the dominoes fall around him, and hope it works. Brett Lawrie is not quite on the same level as Jose Reyes. He still has to prove himself further, and this may be his shot. The Toronto Blue Jays are shifting Lawrie to second base temporarily to help ease the...
The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to be without shortstop Jose
Reyes for the next three months or so following his significant ankle sprain.
Toronto has reportedly wasted no time checking in on potential fill ins, as the
Blue Jays have inquired on Atlanta Braves shortstop Tyler Pastornicky, according
to Jim Bowden of ESPN.

Mark Buehrle pitched in and out of trouble into the seventh inning to beat his former team , J.P. Arencibia and Maicer Izturis hit solo homers and the Toronto Blue Jays topped the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Monday night.
Arencibia went deep in the first and Izturis connected to begin the second as the Blue Jays opened a seven-game homestand with their third victory in four games....
When the Toronto Blue Jays lost Jose Reyes until at least the All-Star break this weekend, a lot of other things were lost as well. The Jays were attempting to recreate what the Miami Marlins started last offseason when they signed every available free agent. Most, if not everyone believed it would work and we all know how it ended. In the middle of last season, the Dodgers...
Mark Buehrle played 12 seasons for the Chicago White Sox, standing out as one of baseball's most reliable and consistent pitchers. Now, he'll take the mound against his former team for the first time.
Buehrle gets the nod for the Toronto Blue Jays in the opener of their four-game set against Chicago on Monday night at Rogers Centre.
The left-hander started his major league...
