Avoiding arbitration which was schedule later Monday, David Ortiz and the Red Sox agreed on a one-year deal worth $14.575 million. The number was the midpoint between what the Red Sox offered and Ortiz’s asking price.
Ortiz had one of his best seasons in years in 2011. He batted .309 with 29 home runs, 96 RBIs and a .952 OPS.
