The Bluefield Blue Jays (Appalachian League) players saw their 2011 season come to an end after losing 4-1 to Johnson City on Sunday.
Salt Lake 10 Las Vegas 3Chad Gaudin was roughed up for seven runs in 5.0 innings. He allowed 10 hits and three walks with just two strikeouts. The best pitching performance came from Scott Richmond who went one inning, did not allow a hit and struck out two. Manny Mayorson had three hits and also scored a run. Jayson Nix was 2-for-4 with a double. Adeiny Hechavarria had one hit with a walk and a strikeout. New Hampshire 7 Portland 0Drew Hutchison allowed just one run in five innings. He did not walk a batter and he struck out eight. Wes Etheridge worked two scoreless innings. Rey Gonzalez and Bobby Korecky also pitched scoreless innings. Callix Crabbe, Michael McDade, and Mark Sobolewski each had two hits. Three players also hit home runs: McDade, Sobolewski and Danny Perales.
