Bob Melvin led the A’s to a surprising, dramatic turnaround season in 2012, and now it’s going to pay off. Both Melvin and the team agreed on Monday to a two-year extension, keeping the A’s manger with in Oakland through the 2016 season. The extension comes partly because his name isn’t Bob Melvin or Ken Macha, but more so because he led the club to a 94-68 record and its first AL West title in six years last season on his way to being named AL Manager of the Year.
