Bobby Miller Reflects On Impressive Rookie Season With Dodgers
USA TODAY Sports

Dodgers rookie pitcher Bobby Miller broke onto the scene this past season and was dominant for much of his first season. Entering the year, Miller seemed maybe a year-plus away from the majors, but came through in big spots all season long.

Miller spoke with SportsNet LA and looked back on his impressive rookie season. He acknowledged that there were both ups and downs, but was happy with his progress.

“I feel like I grew a lot this year. I’m pretty happy about the year overall, obviously not the ending of it. But for a rookie year, I felt like it was pretty good. I had a good start. There were a lot of ups and downs, but I learned a lot from it.”

The rookie was great for the Dodgers this past season, and was a major reason why they ended up winning 100 games. He helped solidify their starting rotation due to some early-season struggles and showed that he definitely belongs in the big leagues.

On the year, he posted an ERA of 3.76 and a WHIP of 1.10 over 22 starts. He has build, demeanor, and stuff of a number-1 starter, and should only get better in his second season.

Miller reflected on some of his favorite moments of 2023, with one coming just from him pushing through adversity.

“End of the year in Colorado, I was about to be taken out, I was maybe gonna be taken out of a game, but I was kept in and got out of the inning with no runs and that’s something I was really proud about.”

He seemed to get better with every start, and the team is very excited about his future. Miller will be in the Opening Day rotation for 2024, and L.A. can't wait to see how he builds off his impressive rookie year.
