Mets Merized Online:
Bobby Parnell has officially been placed on the disabled list with continued neck discomfort, a day after receiving an anti-inflammatory injection at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Sandy Alderson suggested surgery ultimately may be required, according to Adam Rubin.
“He had a series of injections last week. He had an epidural yesterday. And so right now we’re simply evaluating how he responds to those two treatments,” Alderson said.
“We’ll know more in the next two or three days. It is conceivable that if those don’t work, something more significant, more invasive would have to be considered — surgery, possibly. But right now we’re not at that stage.”
Damn, this sucks…
Here’s a name we’ve been touting for two months on MMO…
If I’m Sandy I am all over calling up Jeff Walters from Double-A Binghamton where he is having an incredible and record-breaking season. No way do I trust ANY of the current relievers to close games out for the Mets…. No way.
Walters has already broken th

The New York Mets are finally giving Wilmer Flores his opportunity as they promoted him from Triple-A Las Vegas and will start him tonight at third base against Colorado. Ironically, today is Flores’ 22nd birthday.

In case you missed the big news, the New York Mets have promoted Wilmer Flores from Triple-A Las Vegas. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the Mets and even Flores who celebrates his 22nd birthday today.
This was the correct move for the Mets as it keeps Daniel Murphy at second base and Eric Young in left field without having to upset the apple cart as they had originally...
Travis d’Arnaud was blown away after catching five scoreless innings from Noah Syndergaard during Sunday’s 6-0 win for Binghamton.
“What can I say about an outing like that?” said d’Arnaud, who is coming back from a broken foot suffered in April. “He had an absolutely electric fastball, his curveball was pretty devastating and his changeup — I didn’t even know he...
LaTroy Hawkins got the save on Tuesday night for the Mets against the Rockies as they won the first game of the series 3-2.
The 40-year-old vet, an avid user of Twitter, got an interesting message last night to celebrate the save.

Hawkins was none...

Who remembers this one from Shea Stadium when Hubie Brooks was the future of third base?
Dustin Lawley, OF, St. Lucie: Lawley continues to annihilate FSL league pitching. This week he has hit three home runs, seven RBIs, and is hitting .286 in 21 at bats. Lawley is too advanced for Single-A pitching, and he deserves to be called up to AA soon. It will be interesting to see how he fares against AA pitching once he’s promoted.
Luis Cessa, SP, Savannah: Luis...
While you try to get the theme music from the Flinstones out of your head, there’s some big news out of Mets’ camp today.
Prospect Wilmer Flores, who’s been tearing the cover off the ball at Triple-A, has been promoted to the big club to replace the injured David Wright.
Recently, I was discussing with a friend how I don’t watch every inning, especially since David Wright...
Both suspended Mets players issued statements a short while ago:
Today, I was notified by the Commissioner of Major League Baseball that I have been suspended for 50 games for violation of the Joint Drug Agreement. Out of respect for the Mets’ organization, my teammates, and my family, I have decided to accept this suspension and not exercise my rights under the Basic...
It was a quieter night in the world of Mets Minors purely because Binghamton, St. Lucie, Brooklyn, and Kingsport did not play a game — but as you’ve heard by now, there was definitely some points to talk about…
Well, the sweet swing of Wilmer Flores will be in a Citi Field near you soon…and spoiler alert: There’s only one Citi Field where this Flores will be rocketing...
