Found August 21, 2012 on NESN.com:
In the wake of the Red Sox recent slump, pitching coach Bob McClure was fired on Monday. McClure, who was in his first season on the job, seemed to have a good connection with a number of the pitchers but ultimately the results just weren't there. Bobby Valentine understands the amount of effort that McClure put in, but Boston's manager feels that a new voice in the clubhouse could do big things for the Sox. Check out the video above from Red Sox First Pitch to see more about McClure as well as the impact of Carl Crawford's season-ending surgery.

GIVE IT A REST (IN PEACE)

Bobby V.: Pesky funeral talk insulting

Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine, irritated when asked about why only four active players attended BoSox legend Johnny Pesky's funeral, called all the talk "very insulting."

Bobby Valentine Prophetic In His Prediction Of Yankees Missing 2012 MLB Playoffs?

At the end of July, Boston Red Sox manager was talking about the chances that his team could still make the 2012 MLB Playoffs. At the time, Boston was in last place in the American League East, and the New York Yankees were well ahead of the rest of the division in first place. It seemed a foregone conclusion that New York would clinch a postseason berth, as well as...

Bobby Valentine Says Beginning of Weightlifting in Baseball Helped Mask Steroids Issue for Some

When people talk about the steroids era in baseball, a lot of blame and questions go around. Why didn't the players and managers do more? How could it go on so long, and how could so few seem to know what was up? Or, the biggest question: Couldn't everybody see that all those sluggers were suddenly getting a lot bigger and a lot beefier? With Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon...

Told ya’ so BoSox… Time to can Bobby V is near!

Bobby Valentine has a sandpaper-like personality that doesn't work very well in today's MLB.I don’t want to sound like a braggadocios *******, (I guess it just comes naturally) but I told MLB baseball fans  - and Boston Red Sox management – that they really dropped the ball in a big way by hiring hard-nosed (unlikable) manager Bobby Valentine to replace beloved skipper...

Bob McClure Wasn’t Just A Scapegoat For The Red Sox

The McClure and Valentine marriage was less than a match made in heaven The Red Sox fired pitching coach Bob McClure on Monday, just 122 games into his first season on the Sox’ staff.  He was the 3rd Red Sox pitching coach in as many years and his firing paved way for the 4th, assistant pitching coach Randy Niemann.  A lot of people are calling McClure a scapegoat for what...

Can The Red Sox Be Saved Under This Ownership?

Bobby Valentine really had no idea what he was getting himself into with this Red Sox team. The Red Sox have not been this bad under the current owners and it really is a worst case scenario.  The players hate the manager. The general manager has as much power as you and I.  Carl Crawford may miss more time next year because they forced him back this season.  The team is just...

Red Sox Find That Playing From Behind is Not a Recipe for Offensive Success

Editor's note: NESN.com is going to tell the story of the 2012 Red Sox in Bobby Valentine's words. Each game day, we will select the best Valentine quote that sums up the day for the Red Sox. As much as the starting pitching of the Boston Red Sox has struggled outside of Clay Buchholz -- before Wednesday, that is -- it's kind of overshadowed the fact that the offense...

Bobby Valentine Admires Mike Trout's Skills During Rookie Season, Calls Him 'A Special Player'

BOSTON –– When the Nationals visited Fenway Park in June, Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine fawned over Bryce Harper. Nearly two months later, he shared similar admiration for Angels outfielder Mike Trout. "You see SportsCenter and whatever the highlights are and he's always in them," Valentine said. "Watching him last night –– the first at-bat [a strikeout...

What Took So Long?

The Red Sox finally fired first year pitching coach Bob McClure. McClure led the Red Sox's pitching staff to an MLB eighth worst ERA (4.30) and a sub .500 record, so it's seemingly a miracle he lasted this long. McClure was brought in as a scout before Bobby Valentine, but was promoted to pitching coach shortly after Valentine was introduced. The two worked together during...

Bobby Valentine Believes Franklin Morales Has 'What it Takes' to Be a Full-Time Starter in the Future

BOSTON –– Despite two subpar starts against the Yankees, Franklin Morales has been exceptional as a starter. In eight starts this season, the left-hander has posted a 3-3 record with a 3.98 ERA. Since the Red Sox are slipping out of playoff contention, the team could be evaluating his starting prospects moving forward. As far as Red Sox skipper Bobby Valentine is concerned, Morales...

Your Morning Dump...Where Bob McClure is the first to go

Bob McClure was fired Monday and replaced by Randy Niemann...

McClure pays for Red Sox pitching staff's rocky season

Pitching coach Bob McClure is the first casualty of the Boston Red Sox's underachieving season. McClure was fired Monday night after presiding over a pitching staff that ranked 11th in the American League with a 4.31 ERA. McClure also had a stormy relationship with manager Bobby Valentine. Randy Niemann, a trusted Valentine lieutenant who had been serving in an unusual role...

Bobby Valentine Wishes Red Sox 'Got That Loss Back' From Bartolo Colon's Outing Against Them

BOSTON -- Once a member of the Red Sox, Bartolo Colon stifled his former club on July 3. When he took the mound for the Athletics back then, he tossed six innings and allowed just five hits and one earned run in the 3-2 victory. Turns out, the win was tainted. On Wednesday, Major League Baseball suspended Colon for 50 games after he reportedly tested positive for testosterone and...
