Will Barry's future be bright? A judge will determine that on Dec. 16.

Former Giants outfielder Barry Bonds is hoping he’s on Santa’s “nice” list later this month when he appears in court to hear sentencing for the obstruction of justice conviction that was levied on him by jurors back in April.

Baseball’s home run king faces 15 to 21 months in prison for his crime, but his lawyers are asking for probation versus jail time, according to a report today by the Associated Press.

Court papers that were filed this afternoon in San Francisco state that Bonds’ conviction was simply an aberration and that his philanthropic history is a truer reflection of the man who was accused (but never proven) of taking performance-enhancing drugs during his playing days with the Giants. The federal probation department is actually making the same recommendation for Bonds, who will be sentenced on December 16.

The only question that remains is, will the judge who is presiding over the case be holly and jolly, or will he simply mutter ‘bah-humbug’ and toss Bonds in the slammer? We’ll soon find out, Virginia.

I hope you enjoyed reading "Bonds’ sentencing scheduled for Dec. 16." I'm interested in your opinion on this article. Why not leave a comment at 22gigantes.com?
