In a phone interview this morning with WEEI in Boston, Red Sox slugger David Ortiz said he remains encouraged in his recovery over his Achilles injury he suffered last season. “I’m not completely recovered, bit I’m going to ready to go for Opening Day,” Ortiz told the radio station. The Red Sox designated hitter said that doctors have told him to ease into spring training adding that he feels good but that he hasn’t started the really hard stuff yet in his rehab process.
The Red Sox will report to Fort Myers, Florida on February 14th to open training and the team will play it’s first game of spring training on February 21. Ortiz suffered his injury on July 17, 2012.
