Sunday night the Boston Red Sox lost their third series in a row but it wasn't completed without some controversy. Starting Pitcher Ryan Dempster began Sunday Night with a scoreless first inning and was given a 2-0 lead entering the 2nd inning. Public Enemy number one Rodriguez led off the 2nd inning against Dempster. After missing on his first attempt of hitting Rodriguez he tried twice more claiming to be pitching inside. On that fourth pitch of the at bat in which there was a 3-0 count Dempster drilled Rodriguez right on the elbow/rib area. The initial reaction by Rodriguez was obvious hurt and felt dismay towards Dempster. Joe Girardi was the only one ejected after defending Rodriguez profusely and rightfully demanding Dempster be ejected. Major League Baseball today after reviewing the incident Monday suspeneded Dempster five games also fining him an undisclosed amount according to Weei.com.
