The Boston Red Sox got back to their winning ways by winning 2 of 3 against the Tampa Bay Rays this past week. The Red Sox lost the opener on Tuesday 5-3 where John Lackey ended up taking the loss.  The Boston Red Sox then came back in game two with a strong performance by Jon Lester where he improved to 6-0 and the Red Sox chased David Price from the game as the left-hander fell to 1-4. The offense finally broke out with nine runs in Wednesday's game.  On Thursday the Red Sox went for the series win and got it due to a clutch two run double by Will Middlebrooks in the ninth inning against Tampa Bay Rays closer Fernando Rodney.  The Red Sox still have six games on their current nine game road trip where they visit Minnesota and Chicago before returning home to Boston. We seem to be in a pivotal stretch for the Red Sox as they play two winnable series on the road against AL Central suprise Minnesota and the last place Whitesox's.  Follow our CLNS Red Sox coverage on Twitter...

Jon Lester Benefits From Big Offensive Night As Red Sox Score Much-Needed Win (Video)

The Red Sox really needed that one. After losing nine of 11 games and falling all the way to third place in the American League East, Boston’s offense finally came through Wednesday night, pouring in nine runs in a 9-2 rout of Tampa Bay. Jon Lester was strong again on the mound, allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings to run his record to 6-0, and he credited the Red...

Bats awaken, Lester cruises Sox past Rays 9-2

Two aces faced off tonight in Jon Lester and David Price. However, it was everything but the anticipated rubber match. Much to the relief of the Red Sox offense, the 2012 Cy Young Award winner struggled mightily tonight. The third inning was the exact jolt this Red Sox offense lusted. Stephen Drew led things off with a walk, followed by a Jacoby Ellsbury single to center. Then,...

Twins looking to avoid sweep at hands of Red Sox

Now that the Boston Red Sox have bounced back from their recent slide, they hope John Lackey can end his losing streak. The right-hander hopes to avoid dropping a fourth straight start while trying to help the visiting Red Sox to their fifth win in a row Sunday against the slumping Minnesota Twins. David Ortiz homered twice and drove in six runs as Boston (26-17) rolled to a 12-5...

Jon Lester Flying High - and Making History

Photo from bostonredsoxblog.com Jon, whatever you're doing this season is working so keep it up. - From a fan. He has been outstanding all year, but particularly in his last 2 starts. He and Clay Bucholz have been anchoring the rotation so far, with their brilliance. Neither of them have lost a decision so far. And that's been huge for us so far. Having a dominant 1-2...

Jon Lester, Stephen Drew Both Play ‘Grand Slam Stopper’ for Red Sox Badly in Need of Win (Video)

Sometimes, a win’s a win. Other times, it can matter a little bit more. Wednesday’s win over the Tampa Bay Rays was more of the latter for the Red Sox, who entered the day badly in need of a win. They turned to Jon Lester to right the ship, and that’s exactly what he did — just like he usually does. The tough left-hander improved to 4-0 following a Red Sox loss this season...

3 Stars of the Game: Game 40

Ryan Macleod Contributing Writer The losing streak is over, and its all because the Red Sox bats finally woke up. 1:05 p.m.: Jacoby Ellsbury will finally get his day off. Ellsbury, who has played in every game this season, was scheduled to have Saturday night off, but Shane Victorino’s absence because of a back issue meant Ellsbury needed to remain in the Red Sox’ lineup. Victorino will return on Sunday, and he’ll play center field and lead off for the first time this season while Ellsbury...

Four Bases: Red Sox 9, Rays 2
