Hot dogs, buns, spider legs, Tribe losses: all things that comes in eights.

Doug Fister went the distance and carried a perfect game into the sixth inning as the Tigers struck for more than enough off Ubaldo Jimenez to support their cause as they won the second game of the series 6-1. Fister allowed one run in the ninth inning but permitted just four hits while walking none and striking out six. Ezequiel Carrera had a pair of late triples to account for half the team’s hits and scored the lone run. Lefty Chris Seddon will be making his Tribe debut facing Max Scherzer tomorrow afternoon in the series finale.

Damon Designated for Assignment; Carrera Recalled

From the Indians: “The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers. To allow room on the 25-man roster the Indians have designated OF JOHNNY DAMON for assignment. Carrera, 25, has spent the entire 2012 season to date with Columbus where he hit .294 (116-394) with 65 runs scored, 19 doubles, 6 triples, 6 home runs...

Accardo DFA to Make Room For Seddon

Josh Tomlin’s demotion from fourth starter to long man spelled the end for one of the members of the Indians bullpen. Following last night’s game, it proved to be Jeremy Accardo, who was designated for assignment. The spot cleared will be used for left-handed starting pitcher Chris Seddon, who will face the Tigers this afternoon. Accardo, 30, started the season in Columbus after...

Mario Impemba and Dan Dickerson call Cabrera’s Sunday walk-off

Detroit Tigers fans are lucky to have two of the better play-by-play guys around these days. If there is a smoother delivery than that of Mario Impemba from Fox Sports Detroit, I’d like to hear it.  He’s in his 11th year with FSD color analyst Rod Allen and is Michigan born and bred. Dan Dickerson, also born and raised in Michigan, owns the mic for 97.1 WXYT.  He’s been the...

Fielder leads offensive surge in 10-2 win

DETROIT -- No matter the sport, good teams are supposed to fatten up their record against weak and struggling opponents. For once, the Tigers remembered to do that. Facing an Indians team in the middle of a horrific road trip, the Tigers put 22 runners on base and cruised to an easy 10-2 victory Friday night. "This is a nice way to start the homestand everybody doing something...

Tigers put Raburn on DL, call up Worth

The Detroit Tigers have put outfielder Ryan Raburn on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right thumb. Sunday's move is retroactive to Aug. 1. Detroit also recalled infielder Danny Worth from Triple-A Toledo. Raburn is hitting .172 this year. He can play second base and the outfield, but the Tigers recently acquired Omar Infante in a trade, leaving less available playing...

Nine and Counting….The Streak Continues

If you recall I spent last weekend in Minneapolis watching the Indians get smoked by the Twins. We then all watched together this week as the last place Kansas City Royals swept our Indians with relative ease. Taking a six-game losing streak into Detroit for a three-game set with the Tigers, you had to think things couldn’t possibly have gotten worse, right? With my brother living...

Series Preview: Twins at Indians 8/6 - 8

After a third consecutive sweep, this one to the Detroit Tigers, the Indians postseason hopes have been officially demolished. As we move into "there's always next year" mode, focus should switch to the young players like recent call-up Ezequiel Carrera and future all-star Jason Kipnis. It will be interesting now to see how Corey Kluber and Chris Seddon pitch for...

Tigers 10, Indians 2

Prince Fielder homered and drove in four runs, helping Anibal Sanchez win for the first time with the Tigers in Detroit's 10-2 rout of the Cleveland Indians on Friday night. Fielder also hit a two-run double. Sanchez (1-1) allowed one earned run in six-plus innings. The right-hander was acquired in a July 23 trade with the Miami Marlins. The Indians, who designated outfielder...

Scouts' Take on Castellanos

In part two of the two part feature on top prospect Nick Castellanos, we move on from the organization's thoughts and plans for Nick to the scouting view of him; how does he look at the plate, how's the transition to right field going, can he be in Detroit this year?

Rotation Situation Is A Disaster

And I thought being swept back to back by the Twins and the Royals was rock bottom. I obviously thought wrong. I seriously couldn’t decide where to go with this piece. The weekend in Detroit was an abject disaster. However, it was a mere add-on to a week that was a complete house of horrors from our Wahoos. Whatever could go wrong for this team, has gone wrong. The Tigers outplayed...
