Brandon Morrow has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a strained muscle on his left side. The hard throwing Blue Jay starter is 7-4 on the year, with a career high three complete game shutouts and an 3.01 ERA. If there is one knock against Morrow this season, it would be that his strikeout rate of 7.8 per nine innings is two less than his career average of 9.8. Morrow told reporters after his injury shortened one-inning outing on Tuesday ”I felt it on the first pitch to Harper. I felt like a stabbing in my side when I threw it. I just put it out of my mind for the second pitch, just threw it like nothing happened, hoping it was nothing. Threw the next one and felt the same thing.”

Report: Vlad Guerrero Pays Out $25K a Month in Child Support

When I read that Vladimir Guerrero has eight kids with five different women I was, well, I wasn't shocked.  But when I saw that dude is all "meh...whatever" about paying the child support, I took notice.Allow me to explain.According to the Thirty Mile Zone (and some legal documents), the former MVP shells out $25,621 a month in child support.  Here's the breakdown...

Gopher balls bite Toronto's Alvarez again

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Henderson Alvarez is a sinkerball pitcher. He is supposed to get ground balls. However, he has been giving up too many big flies. When his sinker moves laterally instead of down, he can be in trouble. The result of pitches that are more up than down in his case is the 16 home runs he has allowed in 13 starts. That puts him in a tie for second...

Blue Jays recall left-handers Crawford, Laffey

The Blue Jays added left-handed relievers Aaron Laffey and Evan Crawford to the 25-man roster Tuesday, optioning catcher Yan Gomes and right-handed pitcher Chad Beck to Triple-A Las Vegas. Crawford has a 7.36 ERA as a middle reliever in two brief stints with the Blue Jays this season. Laffey should fill the long-relief role. The 27-year-old has pitched for the Indians, Mariners...

Morrow hopes oblique injury is minor

It was difficult enough for Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Brandon Morrow to lose a start after making only nine pitches. However, it could become even more difficult for the right-hander depending on the severity of the injury that forced him from Monday's game before he was finished with the second batter of his outing. He departed because of a strained left oblique after...

Vladimir Guerrero Opts Out Of Contract With Toronto Blue Jays

It looks like the career of Vladimir Guerrero might be coming to an end. According to Mike Wilner of the Toronto Blue Jay radio network, Guerrero has decided to opt out of his contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Guerrero put up just a .214/.233/.286 slash line in 30 PA’s for Triple-A Las Vegas before calling it quits. At 37 and incapable of playing the field, this looks like it...

Blue Jays release Vladimir Guerrero at his request

Outfielder Vladimir Guerrero was released by the Toronto Blue Jays at his request the team announced. The Blue Jays signed Guerrero back in May, but since they didn't have room for him in their Major League roster Guerrero requested his unconditional release. Guerrero worked out for the Diamondbacks back in April. Last season, he hit .290/.317/.416 with 13 HR’s  and 63 RBI’s...

Bryce Harper’s response to reporter’s stupid celebratory beer question was legendary (VIDEO)

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper hit an absolute monster home run that ricocheted off the Rogers Centre’s Windows restaurant in Washington’s 4-2 win over Toronto.  Harper, who finished the game 3 for 4, hit his bomb off Jays starter Henderson Alvarez in the third inning. For as much as I’ve ragged on the Nats phenom in the past for his alleged douchebaggery, I’m not afraid...

Tigers have “lukewarm” interest in Vladimir Guerrero

The Tigers had the opportunity to sign Vladimir Guerrero before the Toronto Blue Jays stepped up and offer him a minor league deal on May 10.  Just a month later, Guerrero is a free agent after the Jays granted Guerrero’s request for his release.  Now, the Tigers are said to have “lukewarm” interest according to FOX’s John Paul Morosi. The 37-year old registered 35 plate...

Free Vladimir Guerrero

Punctuation is so fascist. Throw punctuation on this title and you rob it the statement of its’ many possible meanings. While we can say that Vladimir Guerrero is now a free agent after the Blue Jays granted him his release, to say that Vladimir Guerrero is now free is much more ambiguous. And, in a way, captures more of the essence of what happened today. For one, Guerrero may...

Vlad Guerrero released by Blue Jays

The Blue Jays have released Vladimir Guerrero at his request, according to his agent Bean Stringfellow. Vlad wanted the opportunity to play at the major-league level. He is not retiring According to Stringfellow: Vlad "is in great shape. Someone Will Be Out Named Morrow

Brandon Morrow left yesterday’s game with an oblique injury that was considered substantial.  Sounds like he’s headed to the DL.  I’d gloat, but then he’ll return in three days and hit .400 for a month with little power.   I’d say I told you to sell Morrow, but no one likes an “I told you so.”  They’re more unlikable than that Joe fella from MasterChef.  I...
