St. Louis Cardinals' fans and Cincinnati Reds' second baseman Brandon Phillips have quite a history, dating back to an altercation between Phillips and Cardinals' catcher Yadier Molina back in 2010. Ever since, Cardinals' have booed Phillips every time he comes to the plate, fields the ball or breathes. Phillips repaid Cardinals' fans with  a game-winning RBI in the ninth inning to go with a solo home run earlier in the game in the 13-4 defeat of the Redbirds. Phillips is not liked in St. Louis, yet despite the animosity, Phillips did take time to tweet before the game about just how special the Cardinals' home opener celebration and tribute of Stan "The Man" Musial was. #OpeningDaySTL... WOWWWW!!! What an AMAZING Tribute of the Legend #StanTheManMusial!!! RIP #6

Fans welcome home Cardinals, remember Musial

Opening Day, always a festive occasion in St. Louis, is a little melancholy this time around. There was no Stan Musial for the first time in many years. The Cardinals' opener Monday against Cincinnati was the first game at Busch Stadium since Musial died in January at age 92 after years of declining health. Pre-game ceremonies were mostly a tribute to The Man. Musial's...

Tuesday's mixed bag of Reds news and notes

In case you missed it, the Reds put on an offensive show in the ninth inning yesterday. Home Opener Goes Up In Flames

Gas cans!  Get yer GAS CANS! I don't know much, but I do know that the best way to honor Stan Musial, and to a lesser degree the holiday that is Opening Day, is to NOT get blitzed for 9 runs in the 9th inning of a tied ball game. Unless, As Bernie Miklasz pointed out this AM, you're taking this whole 13 in '13 thing to another place. It was like the perfect...

St. Louis Cardinals Home Opening Big Post

The last time we saw the Cardinals at Busch Stadium, we'd rather forget.  A coronation of back-to-back NL champs somehow morphed into the first few bars of Taps and the Birds haven't been back to play at 700 Clark St. until today. Coming off a 3-3 road trip that could have been much better (losing a 1-0 game and another one in 16 innings after blowing 4 leads) or...
