Found May 25, 2009 on mlb.mlb.com:

There was a lot of time to fill earlier today on FSN Ohio's telecast of the Astros-Reds game during the 2+ hour rain delay in the 5th inning. So much time that nearly five minutes were spent discussing announcer Jeff Brantley's love of barbecued ribs. Nothing against barbecued ribs, but I found another segment - an interview with Brandon Phillips - a lot more interesting. That's when I heard all about Brandon Phillips Field.

Helped by a fairly large contribution from the Reds' second baseman, an unused baseball field was renovated and has become the new home for a Cincinnati high school's team. The field, bearing Phillips' name, was dedicated at a ceremony last Saturday, much to the shock of Brandon's father, as the original story from MLB.com explains.

I didn't see an article about this anywhere else on Yardbarker; so I'm mentioning it here, because I've always been a fan of Phillips. I don't know what went wrong for Phillips in Cleveland. But literally from the first day he was traded to the Reds in 2006 he has been the near all-star level player he always had the talent to be. Hopefully, one of these years (this year?), the Reds will become a winning team. Because I'm curious to see what kind of player he will be when the games are really important and the pressure is on, something he hasn't had to worry about so far in his career.
