After being selected as the Boston Red Sox 2012 Minor League Pitcher of the Year, Brandon Workman will make his Triple-A debut on Sunday afternoon in Syracuse after a solid start to the season with Double-A Portland. Workman, who is ranked as the 11th best prospect by Soxprospects.com was orginally slated to make his Pawsox debut on Friday at McCoy Stadium  but with a rainout, his start was pushed back to later today. In 11 games (10 starts) with Double-A Portland, he 5-1 with a 3.43 ERA in 65 innings. Workman struck out 74 batters and walked only 17 hitters.Over his last seven starts, he has fanned at least five batters in each of those outings.  It is expected that he finishes the season with the Pawsox but could end up being a September callup if needed or continues to preform well. By this time next year, Workman could have a spot in the Boston rotation or bullpen since he has really come on as a pitcher the past two years.

David Ortiz Shows Up to Support Bruins in Game 4 After Red Sox Game Rained Out (Photo)

David Ortiz and the Bruins both have a flair for postseason dramatics, so it’s only natural that Big Papi would root for the B’s on an impromptu off day. With the Red Sox rained out on Friday night, Ortiz made his way to the TD Garden instead of Fenway Park, where he took in the Bruins-Penguins game from a luxury box. Decked out in black and yellow, Big Papi cheered on the B’s...

Buchholz may have start pushed back

Boston Red Sox right-hander Clay Buchholz could have his next start pushed back at least a couple days. Red Sox manager John Farrell indicated that Buchholz may not be ready to throw his...

Teddy Stankiewicz Brings ‘Good Mound Demeanor,’ ‘One of the Best Deliveries’ in Draft to Red Sox

One of the biggest reasons that the Red Sox steered clear of certain free agents in the offseason was because they wanted to keep their second-round pick. The Sox turned that pick into Teddy Stankiewicz on Thursday, and they seem thrilled with the selection. Stankiewicz, a native of Keller, Texas, was drafted by the Mets in 2012, but he didn’t sign. Instead, the right-hander went...

Clay Buchholz Wins Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors After Four-Strikeout, Two-Hit Performance

It appears nothing can derail Clay Buccholz‘s dominant start to the 2013 season. After missing an appearance due to soreness in his right AC joint, the righty pitched five innings of scoreless baseball on Sunday in a 3-0 win over the Yankees. Buchholz struck out four and allowed just two hits and one walk. That performance lowered his season ERA to 1.62. Buchholz is 8-0 on the...

Throwback Thursday - Big Papi Edition

Photo from Matt Stone When David Ortiz hit that walk off home run last night, I think most people were reminded of every big hit he had during 2004. Last night, he drilled the first pitch he saw into the bullpen. True, he hasn't had a walk-off anything since July of 2010, according to the Boston Herald, but if you ask him, he'll tell you that pitchers stopped messing around...
