Because of the Milwaukee Brewers' mounting injury list, manager Ron Roenicke has had to be creative with his lineups. That creativity was tested in a big way Sunday. With left fielder Ryan Braun nursing a sore Achilles tendon and hip, and third baseman Aramis Ramirez out due to a quadriceps strain, Roenicke was missing his Nos. 3 and 4 hitters from an already thin lineup. Asked about putting together a batting order under those circumstances, Roenicke smiled and said, "It took some discussion." Roenicke had no choice but to put together his 17th consecutive different lineup. Right fielder Corey Hart batted third in Braun's place, and substitute third baseman Taylor Green was inserted in the cleanup spot in the Brewers' 6-5 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hart went 1-for-4, and Green finished 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI double. Green, first baseman Brooks Conrad and catcher Martin Maldonado all began the year in the minors.
