The Atlanta Braves have called up outfielder Jose Costanza from Triple-A Gwinnett. Constanza started in left field Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. In 68 games with Gwinnett this season , Constanza batted .263 (68-for-259) with 13 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Constanza has been hot lately, he has an eight-game hitting streak going at Gwinnett. Constanza has a .281 lifetime major league average in 79 games. In 185 at bats he has 2 home runs and 14 RBI with a .332 on-base-percentage. He has stolen 12 bases in 18 attempts. Constanza will bat lead-off today against the Reds and their starter, Homer Bailey. Atlanta has experienced a rash of outfield injuries with right fielder Jason Heyward, center fielder B.J. Upton and left fielder Justin Upton all unavailable Saturday with leg injuries. Reserve outfielder Jordan Schafer, who was off to a hot start this season, will be out another four weeks with a stress fracture. It was originally though Schafer would be back sooner, but an MRI yesterday showed the fracture. Alex Wood was optioned to Gwinnett to make room for Constanza.
