Found October 11, 2013 on Atlanta Bullpen:
I wanted to write this article after Atlanta Braves fans had a chance to take a deep breath and calm down.  The fan in us is always quick to criticize and get upset, but most of the time when we take a step back, we can see things a little more clearly.  That’s what I am trying to do with this Braves team, because believe it or not, this team had a really good year. I will start this off by saying that I completely disagree with anyone that thinks Fredi Gonzalez should be fired.   I don’t even understand how you could arrive at that conclusion, when this team led the division for every day of the regular season except for one.  Sure, guys didn’t hit like we wanted them to, but didn’t Fredi make those changes towards the end of the year and at playoff time? If you want to criticize some of Fredi’s decision-making that’s fine, you can do that.  But realize that the second guess is always right.  The only reason that there is such a thing as the second guess, is because someone failed....

Atlanta Braves news: Reviewing the Best & Worst of 2013

The Atlanta Braves had their 2013 season end sooner than they had hoped, as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ come-from-behind 4-3 victory in Game 4 ended the Braves’ chances at advancing past the National League Division Series, something the organization has not accomplished since 2001. Although the end of a season is always disappointing, the Atlanta Braves did in fact have a very...

Braves fall to Dodgers, begin long offseason

The story of the 2013 Atlanta Braves season was one of resilience. With a core of young, talented guys, big off season acquisitions and a few veterans, the Braves won the National League East and entered the playoffs despite a season riddled with adversity. That the Braves even made it to the postseason is, in itself, quite surprising. That they couldn’t rise to defeat the Los...

Jason Heyward 2008 Just Minors Black Auto #'d /25 (BGS 8.5, 10 Autograph)

I won this Jason Heyward Just Minors black parallel auto a while back, and was able to land it for less than a blaster. For that price, I'm always willing to add a sweet new J-Hey to my modest collection of the Braves' best player.Numbered 13/25 and graded an 8.5 with a 10 auto by BGS, the card is much nicer in-hand, as it scanned in quite poorly. This newest pickup goes...

The Most Under Appreciated Hitters of 2013

Freeman takes his game (and his hugs) very seriously.I am continuing on my mission to create as many lists as possible from now till the start of Opening Day, 2014.To recap the premise, I will pick a topic (or you can help me on my journey by suggesting one) and I will give myself 10 minutes to cut through the baloney and put things together. I promise it will always be short (and...

Braves' Gonzalez not second-guessing 2013 campaign

ATLANTA Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez sat comfortably in his office chair Wednesday morning and told media members he was carrying zero regret into the offseason after his team's 96-win season and early playoff exit. Citing his club's overall success while battling through key injuries, inconsistency from highly-compensated starters and running into one of the hottest teams...

NLDS Game ONE — Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Afternoon Kids, I know this series has just wrapped up but I am playing catch up. I have been delayed in getting the games with the black outs that have been imposed. This game was originally played on October 3 and took place in Atlanta at Turner Field First pitch thrown out by Chipper Jones Kris Medlen on the mound for Atlanta. Clayton Kershaw on the mound for Los Angeles...

Mayor Kasim Reed doesn’t support changing name of the Atlanta Braves

With all the controversy surrounding the Washington Redskins and their offensive name — check out this letter from owner Dan Snyder if you’re in the mood to feel sick and/or lose faith in humanity – it was only a matter of time before attention was turned to teams in other sports. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was recently asked about his feelings regarding the Atlanta Braves to...

10th Man is MVP of Dodgers Braves Series

Dodger Insider Writer Rodolfo Romo's look at the MVP for NLDS With just a few hours from now until game time, I wanted to look back, perhaps to to remember, perhaps to look forward at the MVP for the series against the Braves. Because the true MVP for the 2013 NLDS was the 50,000 plus fans on hand for each of the two games that we played in Los Angeles. I...
