Otis Nixon was a staple piece of so many great Atlanta Braves teams during the 1990′s. Nixon was lauded for overcoming several addictions and beating drugs some time back.
It seems that his demons may have caught up to him. The 54-year-old Nixon was arrested over the weekend after he was pulled over, and officers discovered he had a crack pipe on him and a small rock substance...
The Braves and Reds tangle again tonight at 7:10
How ’bout Andrelton Simmons last night? He went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI and made a play at second base that still has me scratching my head. If he makes that play in the seventh game of the World Series it would be legendary. Check out the video at: Andrelton Simmons Great Play

The Atlanta Braves have optioned infielder Tyler Pastornicky to their Triple-A Gwinnett minor league affiliate. Having to make room for Brian McCann‘s return, Pastornicky was the odd man out. Struggling with the parent club this season, Pastornicky looks to regain his confidence with Gwinnett.

Taking three cuts following the Braves' 5-4 loss to the Reds on Tuesday in Cincinnati.
1. For the first time, Kimbrel is looking mortal
Craig Kimbrel watched the ball sail beyond the left-center field wall and was on his way off the field before Shin-Soo Choo had even rounded third.
For the third time in his last five attempts, the Braves' All-Star closer -- who was one...
The Reds have been a hot and cold team, sweeping one series, getting swept another. The Braves have one of the best records in baseball – although now they are only a half game better than the Reds. In any case, the Reds look like the were on their way to dropping the first 2 games of the series. Kris Medlen had pitched a decent game to give the Braves a 4-2 lead. The Reds...

Great American Ballpark has always been friendly to home runs
The Atlanta Braves will be in very comfortable surroundings the next three games, when they take on the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park in a 3-game series beginning tonight.
Great American Park doesn’t have a fancy nickname like “Homer Heaven” or “The Launching Pad,” but it has been very friendly...
Too much rest led to too many walks for Jonathon Niese.
With his start pushed back by an off day Thursday and a rainout Saturday, Niese was wild on Sunday as he matched his career high with six walks and gave up seven runs in the New York Mets' 9-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
Niese, who had been scheduled to pitch Saturday, was making his first start since April 28 -- exactly...
Braves starter Tim Hudson won his 200th game last week against the Washington Nationals, and today was awarded the National Player of the Week honor for the week ending May 5. Hudson went on to beat the Mets on Sunday to notch his 201st win and finish a perfect, 2-0 for the week.
Not only did Hudson pitch well last week, he laced a double to left center and then smashed an opposite...
Andrelton Simmons homered twice and drove in a career-high four runs on Monday night, leading the Atlanta Braves to a 7-4 victory that ended the Cincinnati Reds' winning streak at three games.
The Braves won at a place where they've had little success lately. They were 0-4 at Great American Ball Park last year and 14-25 overall since it opened for the 2003 season.
The Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Mets 9-4 on Sunday. It was also bring your dog to the game day so naturally someone dressed their dog as a hot dog and then fed it a hot dog.
Back to baseball; the Braves will welcome back six-time All-Star catcher Brian McCann when they travel to Cincinnati to open a series on Monday.
