The list of outfielders competing for the vacant position left by the injured Curtis Granderson could grow, as Jon Heyman of CBSsports reports that the Yankees will consider looking at freshly released Brennan Boesch. Earlier this  morning the Tigers released Boesch, allowing him to a become a free agent should he clear waivers. If Boesch does clear waivers, the Tigers would owe him one-sixth of his $2.3 million salary, according to Tigers’ beat writer Jason Beck. Beck also says that at least 6 teams have asked Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski about acquiring the outfielder in a trade this spring, so his demand is likely high. Boesch, 27, could be a good gamble for the Yankees, who are looking to sure up left-field. In 2011, he hit .283 with 16 homers and 54 RBIs in 115 games. Many predicted a breakout year in ’12 since Boesch was hitting ahead of Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera, but he took a step back, hitting .240 with 12 homers and 54 RBIs in 132 games. Heyman notes that Yankee Stadium would be a good fit for the powerful lefty, and that although he was inconsistent in 2012, he would be worth a shot for a Yankees team suffering from depth issues. Look for a decision to come on Boesch soon. #yankees have some interest in brennan boesch and will consider him — Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) March 13, 2013
