Wow. Just... wow. To say the Milwaukee Brewers haven't been doing a lot of things right lately is something of an understatement. Between the bullpen pitching like they owe the strike zone money, Carlos Gomez and Rickie Weeks' ongoing re-enactment of Weekend At Bernie's and Weekend At Bernie's 2 at the plate, and Ron Roenicke's apparent Punk-ing of John Axford by way of (attempted) multi-inning outings... things could be better. Yuniesky Betancourt is an everyday starter for Christ's sake! Excluding really cold games that allow lil' Yunie to look like a manbaby with his cherub cheeks poking through his ninja mask, that's never a good thing. With all the bad things happening on the field so far this season, you'd think the organization would go above and beyond to ensure that other elements of the game experience are are enjoyable enough to cancel out the sub-standard baseball games themselves. And to a point, the front office and PR department has...

Brewers move Corey Hart to 60-day DL

The Milwaukee Brewers have transferred first baseman Corey Hart to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from knee surgery, the team has announced. The move means that Hart will not be eligible to be activated by the Brewers until May 30. The slugger was initially expecting to be back well before that date, but assistant general manager Gord Ash told...

Brewers seeking answers in bullpen

Ron Roenicke posed a question he's probably asked himself a variation of a lot between last season and the beginning of 2013. "Our choices for the late innings, it's the same thing," Roenicke said. "When (Jim) Henderson is down, then where do you go to?" The Brewers' manager turned to Michael Gonzalez and John Axford Tuesday night, and the results...

Brewers' Chris Narveson to the DL

The Brewers will be without pitcher Chris Narveson for a bit.  He is trying to recover from a  sprained finger, but the recovery process will take some time.  The Brewers chose to place him on the disabled list yesterday. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, the club will look at position player options to replace Narveson on the 25-man roster. #Brewers will call up a...

Miller versus Lohse at Busch on Friday night

(AP) -- An unscheduled day off was just what the Milwaukee Brewers needed. It also set up an unexpected return to St. Louis for newcomer Kyle Lohse. The Brewers right-hander faces his former Cardinals teammates for the first time Friday night as these NL Central rivals open a three-game series. With Wednesday's road game against the Chicago Cubs postponed due to inclement weather...

Brewers-Cubs game postponed because of bad weather

The way their closers were struggling, Cubs manager Dale Sveum and the Brewers' Ron Roenicke could probably feel each other's pain. Both cut the cord this week. In Chicago, that meant Carlos Marmol was out as closer. In Milwaukee, it was John Axford getting, well, axed. And on Wednesday, everyone was getting a breather. The game between the Cubs and Brewers was postponed...

Just How Broken is John Axford, Really?

Monday afternoon, the Brewers were leading the Cubs 7-2 going into the bottom of the ninth. Brandon Kintzler took the mound, but after three straight batters reached base, he was replaced by Jim Henderson. Henderson allowed a little bit of damage, but he successfully slammed the door, picking up a save. Henderson pitched in part because John Axford threw 18 pitches on Sunday. Henderson...

John Axford Loses Closers Job, Jim Henderson Hot Pickup

Monday was a pretty mundane day for Milwaukee Brewers pitcher John Axford as he literally was given the axe as the closer in the Milwaukee bullpen. Taking over until Axford gets back on track is Jim Henderson. In 2 and 2/3 innings this season, Axford had allowed four home runs and a 20.25 ERA. Don’t over think yourselves though, as Axford does have 81 combined saves the past...

Don’t Blame Henderson, John Axford Diss

As Sam Cooke said when looking at John Axford on my fantasy teams, "Change is gonna come." Thanks, Sam. Sam also said the same thing after I gave a waiter twenty dollars on a $12 bill. Speaking of paper money, is it me or do people pull out a five dollar bill and also wonder to themselves, "Hey, when did they put Daniel Day Lewis on money?" The Brewers said...

Tonight, John Axford out-Marmol’d Carlos Marmol

To update a situation we’ve been following rather closely, we want you to actually prepare to have your mind blown. Tonight in a game at Wrigley Field, the Cubbies defeated the Brewers 6-3 in a game the baseball universe will forget forever in 24 hours. The key to take home is that John Axford was actually responsible for Carlos Marmol getting awarded a win. Axford did his usual...
