The Suds Series II started out with a bang as the Milwaukee Brewers took out the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6 to jump to a 1-0 game lead in the 2011 NLCS.
Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder continued their reign as the MLB‘s best one-two-punch while combining for six of the Brewers’ nine total runs.
Starting pitcher Zack Greinke didn’t have his best stuff, but still picked up the win. Greinke has yet to lose a game at Miller Park and has moved to 12-0 at home in 2011.
Similar to game two of the NLDS (a game that Greinke also started), the Brewers benefited from a huge sixth inning. This time around they posted a six-spot to jump ahead of the Cardinals 8-5. It all started with Braun driving in his third and fourth runs of the game with a ground-rule double. Fielder followed with a rocket out to right-field on the very next pitch for his third blast of the postseason. Yuni Betancourt made sure he kept the “Beast-Mode,” inning in process by hitting a two-run shot of his own.
