MILWAUKEE Having registered two of the best seasons at their respective levels for a hitter and pitcher, Double-A Huntsville first baseman Hunter Morris and Triple-A Nashville pitcher Hiram Burgos have been named Brewers Minor League Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. For Morris, the award comes soon after he was honored as the Southern League's MVP, having put together a monstrous season in Huntsville. As the first Huntsville player to win the award since Corey Hart in 2003, Morris batted .303 with 28 home runs and 113 RBI this season. When all was said and done, Morris -- who was a fourth-round pick of the Brewers in the 2010 MLB Draft -- made a valiant push for the Southern League triple crown, leading the league in home runs, RBI, hits (158), slugging percentage (.563), total bases (294), and extra-base hits (74). Burgos -- who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB Draft -- put together, undoubtedly, one of the best seasons by a Brewers minor league pitcher in recent memory, finishing 10-4 with a 1.95 ERA in 27 starts between Class-A Brevard County, Double-A Huntsville, and Triple-A Nashville. His microscopic ERA was good for 10th-best overall in the minors in 2012. Follow Ryan Kartje on Twitter.
