MILWAUKEEWith rosters expanded and the Brewers looking for added help in the bullpen, the team has called up reliever Brandon Kintzler from Triple-A Nashville. Kintzler was on the major league roster last season, but was shut down due to arm problems after nine appearances. In that span, he posted a 3.68 ERA. The Brewers newest reliever began the season on the disabled list and was sent all the way down to Class-A Brevard County. Eventually, Kintzler made his way back up, stopping in Huntsville and Nashville and posting a 2.87 ERA between all three teams. Kintzler is the first of a few expected call-ups in the coming days, as Nashvilles season ends after Labor Day. Follow Ryan Kartje on Twitter.

Brewers shortstop Bianchi a revelation

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke admitted that he didn't know much about shortstop Jeff Bianchi when he came up to the major leagues. After losing Alex Gonzalez for the season, Bianchi was simply another replacement bat in the crowd -- a waiver claim that spent half of the season putting up impressive numbers at Triple-A Nashville -- as the Brewers scrambled to find a suitable shortstop...

Brewers believing that they are still in the race

MILWAUKEE The Milwaukee Brewers were out of it. Finished. Kaput. At least, that was the narrative a few weeks ago before the Brewers won 11 of 13 and pulled within 6.5 games of the wildcard. Now, the change in the clubhouse is tangible. And Brewers manager Ron Roenicke admitted that he's glanced at the standings more in the last few days than he had in the months before, when...

Brewers enjoy rare, powerful day at the plate

MILWAUKEE Recent weeks have been kind to the Brewers offense, as the Milwaukee bats have caught fire in the team's two-week span of dominance. But Sunday afternoon, even with the shadows creeping onto the field at Miller Park, the Brewers went on a nearly unprecedented power spree. Perhaps more remarkable, however, was that nearly all of it came in the first four innings. ...

The 2012 Brewers are not the 2011 Cardinals

In case you haven’t been paying attention over the last week or so (or have just given up and started following the Packers again), the Brewers have finally begun to hit their stride. After a season that started out bad and had gotten progressively worse as the club lost regulars to injuries and trades while the bullpen crisis has failed to resolve itself, the club has begun to...

Brewers bash Bucs again

The Pirates were swept out of Milwaukee on Sunday, as a good day at the plate wasn’t enough to overcome another awful start by James McDonald.  J-Mac continues to drive Pirate fans nuts. He looked SO good in those two games against the Cardinals these last two weeks, but this time came right out and walked the leadoff man on four pitches. Uh oh. Then Pedro Alvarez made an error...
