Brewers coaching staff to remain intact in 2013

Associated Press  |  Last updated October 02, 2012
The entire Milwaukee Brewers coaching staff will return in 2013, manager Ron Roenicke said Tuesday. The 2011 NL Central champions stumbled to a 54-66 start, but have gone 28-12 since and weren't eliminated from playoff contention until Sunday. ''This is a really good staff,'' Roenicke said, adding that continuity among coaches is important. ''Anytime you change (a coach) you have a chance for somebody to not to click with that person,'' Roenicke said. ''The longer you are with the guy and if it's the right guy, and he has a personality that he cares about the players, the players will eventually see how much he cares about them. ''They'll start to listen to him. And things usually go well.'' The coaches are Rick Kranitz, pitching; Jerry Narron, bench; Johnny Narron, hitting; Garth Iorg, first base; Ed Sedar, third base; John Shelby, outfield; and Lee Tunnell, bullpen. Tunnell joined the team when bullpen coach Stan Kyles was fired on July 30. Tunnell was the Brewers' minor-league pitching coordinator before succeeding Kyles and has worked with many of the young pitchers the team expects to have on its roster next year. ''The helpful thing with Lee is he knows all these young guys,'' Roenicke said.
