MLB Injury News:
It seems like the news has been a long time coming, but the Milwaukee Brewers have finally confirmed that Corey Hart will not play a major league game this season after failing to overcome his knee problem. MLB tweeted the news on Friday evening after manager Ron Roenicke made the announcement.
#Brewers manager Ron Roenicke confirms that Corey Hart will have surgery on his left knee and miss rest of the season.

There were already suggestions that Hart was done for the year but nothing had been confirmed by the Brewers until today. Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel explained that the surgery on Hart's left knee will be performed on July 26 by Dr Neal Elattrache. It will repair a chondra defect, caused by cartilage damage in the knee.
Hart's recovery has been an ongoing saga this season, with a variety of reports and timeframes given. This news is a far cry from the optimistic outlook of Hart himself in February, when he claimed he could be back in April. No further information has been given on severity of the injury or recovery time from the surgery.

Some of you may be familiar with my drawings of Corey Hart in numerous odd situations. I'd been meaning to put some of these up, before today's sad news that Hart will have to undergo season-ending left knee surgery. (per Tom Haudricourt, aka - our favorite Prince of Darkness).
Some of these -or, many of these - illustrations are ones I've already drawn...

With the trade deadline just about a month away, and the chances of the Brewers going on a 20-game winning streak…unlikely, shall we say…it’s understandable fans are thinking about how different the team might look by August. One name that’s been tossed around quite a bit is Yovani Gallardo.

After another short start, the Milwaukee Brewers needed some extra coverage in the bullpen.
Right-hander Tyler Thornburg was recalled from Triple-A Nashville following Friday's 10-3 loss to Pittsburgh, as the club sent outfielder Caleb Gindl back to Triple-A to make room.
The Brewers will go to four-man bench in order to add a long reliever. Yovani Gallardo went just four innings...
MILWAUKEE -- After starting the homestand with a pair of crisp, well-pitched games, the Milwaukee Brewers continued to struggle to find consistency over a stretch of time.
Like they have all too often recently, the Brewers played one of the sloppiest games of their season Thursday afternoon, committing errors that led to four unearned runs in a 7-2 loss to the Cubs.
By winning two...
Although Saturday saw Milwaukee Brewers' left fielder Ryan Braun have his best day in the training room since his injury, he is not expected to swing a bat until next Thursday. He is also most probably sidelined until after the All-Star break.
As reported by Adam McCalvy of MLB.com,
"Braun is on the disabled list because of an irritated nerve between

Yovani Gallardo’s name might be tossed around a lot in advance of the July 31 trade deadline. Many teams would need to clear an extra hurdle to acquire the right-hander, though.
Gallardo can block trades to 10 teams, according to MLBDailyDish.com’s Chris Cotillo. The Red Sox reportedly are among the teams on the pitcher’s no-trade list.

While he struggled after returning from injury, Matt Garza appears to have found his groove.
The Milwaukee Brewers' Wily Peralta was plenty sharp last week, too.
Garza takes the mound opposite Peralta as the Chicago Cubs go for another rare win in Milwaukee in Thursday's series finale.
After missing the second half of last season with an elbow injury, Garza (2-1, 4.25...
The Milwaukee Brewers appear to be ready to sell as well. They have some good pieces in the bullpen and teams want those guys. The Brewers have not played well at all this year and that is an understatement, so selling makes a ton of sense.
The Brewers, according to Buster Olney of ESPN, have received calls on relievers John Axford, Mike Gonzalez and Francisco Rodriguez as well...
A minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers has decided to offer a promotion celebrating the second amendment. On July 3, the Double-A Huntsville Stars will be offering fans the chance to win one of three guns to honor the right to bear arms in the United States. The image you see above is the poster detailing the momentous night. You may even notice that National Rifle Association...
Athletes and guns have been a poisonous mix. It only took a few days for the Huntsville Stars to realize that.
Now, the minor league team -- a Double A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers -- that is playing host to a "2nd Amendment Night," which was to feature the raffling of three rifles, has called off that portion of the evening.
According to Stars' general manager...
Brewers (32-46) at Pirates (49-30)
7:15 PM–PNC Park, Pittsburgh
The first place Pittsburgh Pirates go for eight in a row tonight against the last place Milwaukee Brewers. PNC Park should be sold out for the fifth straight game (it’s Fireworks Night, after all) and it should be a great atmosphere on the North Shore.
Tonight’s game is on FOX, but only...
God, 50 wins already? I celebrated by showing my boobs to everyone like it was Mardi Gras. Can you believe they threw me out of McDonalds? Can’t a grown man be excited about his favorite baseball team having the best record in baseball? It’s nothing that playplace full of kids hasn’t seen before. They weren’t…
I’m sure it’s not an original idea but it’s something I thought about after last night’s victory and something I definitely believe. Last season, the year before, this team doesn’t win that game, let alone dominate it like they did. That’s exactly what is different about this year’s club. We’ve seen them repeatedly come back…
