MILWAUKEE The Milwaukee Brewers reinstated Tom Gorzelanny from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against Pittsburgh, adding the left-hander back into their bullpen. Gorzelanny's return will only help strengthen the relief corps as the 30-year-old has a 2.30 ERA in 15-23 innings this season. To free up a 25-man roster spot, Milwaukee placed right-hander Hiram Burgos on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement. "We don't think it's that serious," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "Hopefully it's just a DL and he'll be off in 15 days. That's what we're thinking. Right now that's what it should be. We'll plan on in his rehab and how he's going to throw as he's going to come back. I don't want to say exactly 15 days because it's going to be on the day he starts." Burgos felt discomfort in his shoulder for some time, but tried to pitch through it. It's a similar injury to the one he battled through in the minor leagues last season. Scheduled to start Tuesday night against the Twins, Burgos has a 6.44 ERA in six starts since joining the Brewers from Triple-A Nashville. "It's been bothering me for a while," Burgos said. "It kind of just got worse, then felt better again. This (past) outing the first inning it felt better but as soon as I sat down, as soon as I get cooled down that's when all the pain starts." The shoulder was bothering Burgos before his rough start May 11 in Cincinnati in which he gave up 10 earned runs in three innings. He's made a pair of starts since, but lasted just 3-13 innings Tuesday against Los Angeles, struggling to find his command. "The first days after that start, it took me a bit longer to recover," Burgos said of the start in Cincinnati. "That's when I think it got worse, from that game. I'm a warrior. I always want to be out there. Right now I don't feel (right). It's effecting my command, it's effecting my velocity, everything. Now I have to get better." Right-hander Mike Fiers will likely fill Burgos' rotation spot after the first turn, but he's pitching Saturday against Pittsburgh in a spot start for right-hander Kyle Lohse. Milwaukee now needs a starter for Tuesday night's game against Minnesota. The Brewers plan to wait until after the Pittsburgh series to determine who will make the start. If the Brewers choose to go with somebody on their 25-man roster, right-hander Alfredo Figaro is the most likely candidate. "Some of that depends on what happens in our games here," Roenicke said. "Whether it's going to be in-house or we'll have to go get somebody." Follow Andrew Gruman on Twitter.
