Found June 27, 2013 on Fox Sports Wisconsin:
While he struggled after returning from injury, Matt Garza appears to have found his groove. The Milwaukee Brewers' Wily Peralta was plenty sharp last week, too. Garza takes the mound opposite Peralta as the Chicago Cubs go for another rare win in Milwaukee in Thursday's series finale. After missing the second half of last season with an elbow injury, Garza (2-1, 4.25 ERA) didn't debut until May 21 this year due to a left lat injury suffered during spring training. The right-hander compiled a 6.26 ERA over his first five starts but has since allowed one run in his last two spanning 15 innings. "Ten months off is a long time," he told the team's official website. "No excuses for the first five (outings). It was just kind of finding my way again. Stuff's getting more fluid and free and easy, and I'm not forcing a lot of stuff." Garza was at his best in Friday's 3-1 win over Houston, allowing one run and four hits in a season-high ei...

Five Emotional Reactions to the Idea of Trading Gallardo

(Image: Marc Serota/Getty Images) With the trade deadline just about a month away, and the chances of the Brewers going on a 20-game winning streak…unlikely, shall we say…it’s understandable fans are thinking about how different the team might look by August.  One name that’s been tossed around quite a bit is Yovani Gallardo. Colin Bennett at Reviewing the Brew has...

Soler Broken and Other Cubs News

A few weeks back, Jorge Soler fouled a ball of his shin...a seemingly common occurrence in baseball that carries little consequence past the few moments of stinging pain for the offending party. This being the Cubs and all, the foul ball sent Soler to the 7-day disabled list of which he returned off of this week. The leg still hurt though and now it's being reported that he has...

Corey Hart has another setback, could miss entire season

The Brewers have spent the entire season waiting for Corey Hart to return from offseason knee surgery. After seeing his return pushed back multiple times already this year, it now looks like there's a chance Hart doesn't play at all this season. While continuing to rehab from microfracture surgery on his right knee, Hart apparently did something to that caused his left...

Brewers' Carlos Gomez expects to return today

After leaving Sunday's game with a shoulder injury, there was some concern about Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez's status for this week.  In fact, there was some concern he would land on the DL.  While he has been diagnosed with a shoulder sprain, Gomez says he will be alright and expects to play today.  He was held out of last night's game, but as Tim Haudricourt...

Report: Red Sox Among Teams on Yovani Gallardo’s No-Trade List

Yovani Gallardo’s name might be tossed around a lot in advance of the July 31 trade deadline. Many teams would need to clear an extra hurdle to acquire the right-hander, though. Gallardo can block trades to 10 teams, according to MLBDailyDish.com’s Chris Cotillo. The Red Sox reportedly are among the teams on the pitcher’s no-trade list. Gallardo reportedly can block trades...

Cubs get approval for some Wrigley renovations

The Chicago Cubs have been cleared to move forward with their $500 million renovation of Wrigley Field - except for the large video screen that the team's chairman says is an essential element. Chairman Tom Ricketts says the outfield Jumbotron and the advertising revenue it would generate are needed to fund the remodeling of the historic ballpark without a public subsidy. The...

Rockies Rumors: Colorado interested in Yovani Gallardo, Matt Garza

The Colorado Rockies are surprisingly only four games out of first place in their division and appear to be buyers at the trade deadline. They will specifically be looking for pitchers as their pitching staff and bullpen may need a bit of tuning up. According to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, the Rockies are taking interest in Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo and Cubs...

Rumor Roundup: Garza, Nolasco, Ethier Updates

Here’s a quick update on some rumors from Dodgertown. Jayson Stark says the Dodgers are not actively dangling right fielder Andre Ethier. Don’t buy it. The Dodgers are shopping him and he stands as the most probable player to get traded in my opinion. I see him going to Boston for two reasons. The Red Sox owe us a favor after last summer, with Boston having the monetary resources...
