The Brewers have signed LHP Tom Gorzelanny to a two-year deal, Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel reports. The deal is contingent on him passing a physical which is scheduled for Friday.
Gorzelanny became a free agent after the Nationals non-tendered him. Last season with the Nationals, Gorzelanny went 4-2 with a 2.88 ERA in 45 games. He posted a 7.8 K/9 and has been used as a starter and reliever during his 8 year career.

Gorzelanny replaces Parra in Brewers' bullpen
The Milwaukee Brewers filled a significant void on their roster by coming to an agreement on a two-year deal with free agent left-hander Tom Gorzelanny. Milwaukee had no lefty in the bullpen after deciding not to tender a contract to Manny Parra for the 2013 season. Ironically, Gorzelanny was thrust onto the market when the Washington Nationals made the same decision with him....
Brewers add Gorzelanny to beef up bullpen
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers have made it a priority to add a left-handed option out of the bullpen, and they have found their man.
The club announced Friday they've signed veteran left-hander Tom Gorzelanny to a two-year contract. FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi reported that the deal is worth close to 6 million over the two years.
Gorzelanny, 30, spent the past two...
Danny Espinosa has a big beard now
Sure, this old news in internet time, but we'd be remiss if we didn't get in just one "OMG Danny Espinosa's beard!" post. Just look at that thing.

Bullpen Picture Becoming Clearer, But More Still Needs To Be Done
Yesterday on MLB Network Radio, Doug Melvin spoke briefly on a topic that has been on a lot of fans’ minds this offseason: The Brewers’ continuing efforts to take the remains of their 2012 bullpen and turn them into a serviceable unit. Melvin’s comments, which you can find on Adam McCalvy’s blog, are pretty well summed up by this excerpt:
“There may be a...
Doug Melvin Digs the Home Brew
(Could Brett Myers be a fit for the Brew Crew?)
The Brewers’ offseason took a detour from the frugality expressway yesterday with the signing of lefty reliever Tom Gorzelanny. I don’t want to jump the gun and say the Brewers are screwed next year, because we’re only about halfway through the offseason and anything could happen, including a trade for a decent starter...
Bryce Harper will be spending the End of the World on a beach somewhere.
And so, while you're sitting around waiting for the end of the world on Friday, stunned that Scott Boras got Edwin Jackson 4 years and $52 million and Ted Lerner wasn't involved, and/or waiting for the Washington Nationals to sign Adam LaRoche, take comfort in the fact that Bryce Harper is waiting out the end of the world on vacation on a beach with his family and his girlfriend...
Brewers sign pitcher to minor league deal
The Milwaukee Brewers have signed right-handed pitcher Alfredo Figaro, who was impressive in Dominican Winter League play, to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.
Figaro, 28, pitched for Licey in the Dominican Winter League, posting a 2.63 ERA in six appearances, including three starts. His manager in the league was Brewers Triple-A skipper...
On the Nationals’ Interest in Adam LaRoche
After having his 2011 season ruined by injury, Adam LaRoche had a nice comeback in 2012. He hit .271/.343/.510 (127 wRC+), including a career-high 33 home runs on the way to the postseason with Washington. The Nationals and LaRoche had a mutual option for 2013, but LaRoche turned down his side of it and opted for free agency as he entered his age-33 season.
LaRoche is reportedly...
Report: Cubs closing in on Edwin Jackson
The Chicago Cubs are closing in on four-year, $52 million deal with free-agent pitcher Edwin Jackson, according to an ESPN The Magazine report. Jackson, 29, went 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA in 189 2/3 innings with the Washington Nationals in 2012, after signing a one-year, $11-million deal with them. The Nationals didn't make a qualifying offer, so they won't receive draft-pick...
Report: Cubs, Edwin Jackson Agree to Four-Year, $52 Million Contract
Edwin Jackson is only 29 years old, but he’s already played for seven Major League Baseball franchises. While that may be a red flag to a lot of teams, the Chicago Cubs are about to give the right-hander a lot of money to join his eighth club.
CSNChicago.com’s Patrick Mooney reports that Jackson has agreed to a four-year contract worth $52 million. The 29-year-old is coming off...
Cubs finally get their starter in Edwin Jackson
After failing to trade for Dan Haren of the Angels and failing to sign Anibal Sanchez of the Tigers, the Chicago Cubs finally have the veteran starting pitcher they've been craving: journeyman Edwin Jackson, who the team agreed to a four-year, $52 million deal with on Thursday, substantially less than the $80 million that Sanchez got over five years from the Tigers.

The Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds are the finalist for the solid reliever whose agent is Scott Boras.
Gonzalez pitched for the Nationals last year. He posted a 3.03 ERA last season, but tailed off in September. Quite Frankly...
Brewers don't need overpriced free agents
Mix a feeble crop of free-agent starters with a never-ending need for pitching throughout baseball and what happens?
Average pitchers sign ridiculous contracts, and teams like the Milwaukee Brewers are left with the decision of taking a risk by shelling out big money or staying patient.
This offseason, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin's decision has been pretty easy. With...
