We all know the New York Yankees are in a heap of trouble heading into the regular season. Mark Teixeira is headed towards the DL, joining Curtis Granderson. Alex Rodriguez is out until the late summer, at least, and Derek Jeter is questionable for Opening Day. Kevin Youkilis is big new face in the infield, and he could be moved over to first base if the Yankees choose to pick up a third-baseman to replace Teixeira on the roster. But Brian Cashman, who is dealing with a severe injury of his own, doesn’t seem to excited about his choices: Cashman said NYY could look at a pool of 1B or 3B thanks to Youkilis’ versatility: “It’s kind of like a baby pool. A lot of kids pee in it.” — Mark Feinsand (@FeinsandNYDN) March 6, 2013 Cashman is a perfect GM for dealing with the New York media, a quote machine. I’m going on record right now: the Yankees will make the playoffs, even though everyone else is planning for their demise and possible last place finish.
