Last week, Bruce Bochy was quoting in saying that he didn't believe emerging Los Angeles Dodgers rookie superstar Yasiel Puig deserved a place on the National League All-Star team. This was potentially detrimental to Puig's All-Star hopes considering the fact that Bochy will manage the National League squad later this month in the All-Star Game."Generally, guys that go to the All-Star Game are guys that have a great first half, not a great three weeks,” Bochy said at the time. However, the San Francisco Giants manager also stated that he "may change his mind" a week from now. Well, a week has passed and Bochy may have indeed changed his stance on the matter.“He’s done a great job,” Bochy told the Chicago Tribune. “Tomorrow we’ll know exactly who’s going to make the club and which way we’re going to go. He’s done a great job. Believe me, that’s not gone unnoticed. He’s a very exciting player. There’s been a lot of talk about him, a lot of interest from different people to have him in there. I understand that. I have to do what I think is right and tomorrow you’ll know.’’Bochy was also asked if he could ever remember a player making an All-Star team with as little major league service time as Puig, Bochy mentioned Bryce Harper in 2012.“Part of it is you understand as a manager the fans want to see a certain player,” Bochy said. “It’s exciting for them. They’ve made a huge splash. They’re bringing so much energy, it’s intriguing. And even though it’s a small sample size, when you look at the noise [Puig] has made, and it happens in a big city, and he has to be credited with what’s happened with their club. He’s been a spark for their team.’’The suspense on whether Puig will earn an All-Star nod will end Saturday evening when Major League Baseball unveils the rosters on FOX. If Puig isn't selected, he may have a chance to earn his way in thanks to an online vote, which fans can choose which player they want to see occupy the final spot on each of the league's roster.Entering Saturday, Puig boasted a .420 batting average, eight home runs, and 19 RBI in 119 at-bats for Los Angeles. On Monday, the Cuban native was tabbed as both the National League Rookie of the Month and Player of the Month.Despite Puig's fast start in the majors, one guy who probably won't be rooting for Puig to make the team is Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon.Via Sports Illustrated
