Bruce has already surpassed career-highs this season in
both homers and runs batted in.
No National League player excelled more during the week of August 8-15 than Reds' right fielder Jay Bruce -- this after MLB released a press release announcing Bruce as the NL Player of the Week for the period.
The following is an excerpt from that press release:
"In seven games last week, Bruce led baseball with 15 RBI, a 1.120 slugging percentage and 28 total bases, and tied for the Major League-lead with five home runs and nine runs scored. The 24-year-old collected the second-most hits among National Leaguers while his .440 (11-for-25) batting average ranked third and his .481 on-base percentage ranked fourth. Bruce had five multi-hit performances on the week, including four multi-RBI efforts."
It is the second time Bruce has garnered the accolade this season, having won it previously for May 23-29.
Bruce, a 2011 All-Star, is currently hitting .274 with 26 HR...
