Up above: Bryce Harper meets the media crush at today's All Star Game media session. That's Strasburg at the table behind him; and Gio at the table behind Strasburg. Harper set the bar pretty low for himself:
"I'm pretty terrible in All-Star Games. I don't know what they're going to see from me. Aflac All-American, I was 0-for-5 with four Ks. [Under Armor] All-American, I was like 0-for-5, 5 Ks. Last year in the Futures Game, I was like 0-for-5, 5 Ks. I'm just going to try to enjoy myself as much as I can and have as much fun as I can. Really just take it all in." Time to exhale for the Washington Nationals’ fans. Bryce Harper has been named to the 2012 MLB All-Star Game. After not originally getting the selection and not receiving the fans’ “Final Vote,” Bryce Harper has been announced as the replacement player for injured National League All-Star Giancarlo Stanton. It may not...
During a recent interview, Nationals phenom Bryce Harper discussed the "Clown question, bro" incident and explained why he was so perturbed by the reporter's inquiry.

Arguably the most memorable moment from the 2012 MLB All-Star Game came from Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.
In the top of the fifth inning, Texas Rangers Mike Napoli was at the plate and hit a long fly ball into left field.
Harper appeared ready to make the catch but ended up losing the ball in the lights:

Every year, the talk around the All-Star game is never about who makes it in -- it's always about who got snubbed. Despite the best efforts of the league to sneak in one more player with the "Final Vote," the necessity to include someone from every team means that more often than not, somebody deserving is going to be left off the team. The biggest All-Star snub for...
It's Bryce Harper hour at the Thigh! We just showed you the ridiculous Under Armour shoes Bryce Harper that will be wearing at tonight's MLB All-Star game, and now, we bring you pictures of the 19-year-old's customized Mercedes-Benz, which features a glowing bat rack in his trunk:Why the bat rack? The MLB All-Star Game is often -- and rightfully -- hailed as the greatest yearly collection of talent in a baseball stadium. It's also a yearly showcase for the superstars of the game to showcase their flashy shoes, as many of them are not shy about wearing busier and more colorful spikes than the classic black design. So on Tuesday night, when baseball fans watched Pablo Sandoval...
According to sources, Bryce Harper will replace an injured Giancarlo Stanton for the 2012 MLB All-Star Game. “Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen guessed Stanton would miss about a month. General manager Mike Hill said the procedure to remove a loose body in the knee is fairly routine,” said an ESPN report. Harper, 19, entered Saturday’s game [...]
"Look grandpa! Baseball!"
And so, 19 year old Bryce Harper is apparently glued to 80 40 year old Chipper Jones' side on the top step of the NL dugout during the All-Star Game. That's a good thing.
Interestingly, during his pregame speech to the NL All-Stars Chipper Jones revealed that Harper nearly killed one of his kids with a line drive during BP. Still...

Bryce Harper isn't an All-Star? That's a clown question, bro. Why? Because Harper is headed to Kansas City. He wasn't originally selected to this year's All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium, but that doesn't matter anymore. According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Harper will replace Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton -- who will undergo knee surgery either...
Does it get any better than this video (via CSN Washington.com) of Derek Jeter and ex-Nat Adam Dunn gushing about Bryce Harper? Well, yes, it does. But, still, it's pretty cool to hear Jeter talk about Harper. Dunn, too. Won't be long before Harper hits one up into the third deck at Nationals Park like Dunn used to, you know?
"You know what I like about him...
The first half of the baseball season has come and gone, and so we pour out some of our malt beverage and bow our heads in silence in honor of the eighty-five or so games that have passed for each team. Or we could just pick some mid-season awards.

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton will have right knee surgery on Sunday and miss four to six weeks, the team announced Saturday. According to a tweet by the Miami Herald's Manny Navarro, the team said Stanton will undergo surgery at 7 am ET Sunday to remove bone chips that have bothered him. Stanton had originally hoped to wait until the end of the season for surgery...
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By MIKE SCHMIDT For The Associated Press I was on 12 All-Star rosters, most as a legit All-Star deserving of the honor of representing the National League as one of that year's best players.
In 1980, I missed the game with a pulled muscle. And in 1989, I was voted to the team as a starter after I had retired. In each case the replacement was a player deserving...
