The Mets have traded John Buck and Marlon Byrd and cash considerations to the Pittsburgh Pirates for 19-year-old Single-A second baseman Dilson Herrera and a player to be named later, according to ESPN New York. Herrera is the 20th best prospect in the Pirates minor leagues according to Baseball America and 11th best according to MiLB.com who also ranked him just behind Wilmer Flores as the ninth best second baseman. Herrera is playing his first full season in Single-A, where he is batting .265/.330/.421 with 11 home runs, 27 doubles and 11 stolen bases in 109 games. He played in the MLB Futures Game, where he was the second-youngest player selected. Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com recently said he could see Herrera in the big leagues by 2016, and Baseball America recently called him the best defensive second baseman in the South Atlantic League.
