John Buck is leaving for New York City after learning that his wife has gone into labor.
This should pave the way for the debut of Mets catching prospect Travis d’Arnaud during this weekend series against the San Diego Padres.
D’Arnaud is a California native so it should be doubly special for him.
Anthony Recker will replace Buck in tonight’s starting lineup…

Las Vegas 51s batters combined to hit three home runs tonight against visiting New Orleans, but it wasn’t enough in a 12-9 loss at Cashman Field.
Travis d’Arnaud went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs for Las Vegas, including a two-run home run in the first inning for a 2-0 Las Vegas lead.
However, New Orleans scored three runs in the second inning and six in the third to take the lead for good.
Matt den Dekker and Brian Bixler each also homered for Las Vegas.
