The Miami Marlins won their fifth straight game on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over the San Diego Padres.   Mark Buehrle tossed the first complete game of the season for Miami and his first since 2010.   The win streak which has seen all the wins come on the road improved the Marlins’ record to 13-14 on the season and moved them out of last place in the National League East.

Buehrle was brilliant on a day where working deep into the game was a necessity for the Marlins.   A day after using nearly every arm in the bullpen, Buehrle saved the Marlins’ pen with his complete game effort.   The veteran struck out three, walked two, and allowed one run on five hits.     The win improved Buehrle to 2-4 on the season and his E.R.A now stands at 2.83.

Hanley Ramirez had a big day going 3-4 with a double, and two balls that came within inches of home runs.   Doubles were a theme in this one, in addition to Ramirez’ fourth of the season — Gaby Sanchez and Omar Infante added their eighth while John Buck hit his fourth.    Infante had a pair of RBI as he continued to be the biggest clutch performer for the Miami lineup.   Giancarlo Stanton’s power surge continued with his fifth home run, all of which have come in the last seven games.   Every starter had at least one hit with the exception of Jose Reyes.

The Marlins will try for the second consecutive sweep and sixth straight win on Sunday when they send Ricky Nolasco to the mound to take on Joe Wieland.
