The Mets drop a close game to the Braves, 8-7. Summary I hate when we lose games like this. It always feels so tough to stomach. Time to get right into it. RA Dickey started this one, his first start after being snubbed for the AS game start he deserved, and looked a little rusty. He allowed five earned runs in five innings pitched, off eight hits and two walks – and he struck out four. Everybody is allowed a bad start every now and then, and with the way Dickey has been pitching, I will chalk it up to a little rust and confusion from the All-Star game. During the fifth inning, Collins got ejected for arguing an overturned call, and it was a very controversial moment overall. It definitely shifted some momentum, as the Braves took advantage to score two in the inning. The Braves would be held off the board until the eighth inning, after Josh Edgin and Jon Rauch pitched back to back scoreless innings, with the help of Byrdak picking up the final out in the seventh. He started the ei...

R.A. Dickey: No Respect…No Respect At All

That phrase was made famous by comedian Rodney Dangerfield.  These days, it could be used in reference to R.A. Dickey, and knuckleballers in general.  It couldn’t have been more evident in what we saw take place during this week’s All-Star game. Dickey was one of the few feel good stories we’ve seen in baseball this year.  Major League Baseball had the chance to do the right...

Post Game: Braves 8 Mets 7

Dickey had a rough start today. Today the Mets lost a close one to Atlanta 8-7. This was a game that the Mets should have won, as they had a 2 run lead with 2 outs in the 8th inning. This loss ensures a series loss to the Braves. RA Dickey struggled today, allowing 5 runs in 5 innings. Josh Edgin struck out the side in his innning, and Bobby Parnell, Tim Byrdak and Pedro Beato combined...

Dickey not sharp in Mets' loss

R.A. Dickey has seen too much go wrong at Turner Field to believe he can waltz to an easy win. ''You don't ever want to take anything for granted here, and that's a tip of the hat to their lineup,'' he said. ''Every out is important, no matter how you get it.'' Jason Heyward singled to cap a three-run rally and the Atlanta Braves took advantage...

What a weekend.  The New York Mets strolled into Atlanta on Friday evening looking to improve on their then 46-40 record.  Instead the Mets received poor pitching performances from Chris Young, R.A. Dickey, and Johan Santana leading to a three-game sweep moving NY 3  1/2 games behind the Division Leading Washington Nationals as well as 3 1/2 games behind the Wild Card leading...

Changes Are Coming For The Mets, But Will It Be Too Little, Too Late?

As we posted here yesterday, the Mets will be sending an entourage to Buffalo and all eyes will be on right-handed starter Matt Harvey who could be auditioning for a chance to make his Major League debut next Saturday.against the Dodgers. If Harvey were to convince the Mets that he is up for the challenge, expect growing pains along the way. But with that said, he should be a...
