A hard-fought game turned to sheer embarrassment for Jose Valverde and the Tigers as they fell to the Colorado Rockies 12-4 in 10 innings from Comerica Park. Coming into the game on an 8 game losing streak, the Rockies took advantage of a Valverde throwing error in the 10th to score 8 runs in the en route to victory. It wasn’t all on Valverde though in the 10th. After leaving the game having allowed four runs, Luis Marte came on in relief surrendering back-to-back homers to Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer. Prior to the disastrous 1oth the Tigers were able to come back from being down twice in the game as Jackson, Cabrera, Fielder and Boesch each contributed RBIs. Tigers starter Casey Crosby ended up going only 3.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while walking 4 and striking out 4. Rockies starter Jeff Francis went 5.1 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits while walking 3 and striking out 2. NOTES: After the game the Tigers optioned pitcher Casey Crosby and outfielder Matt Young to Triple-A
