Scutaro completes yet another comeback. We know how to come back from behind, that's for sure. This team, like 2010, seems to never say die, and always seems to get it done in the late innings. Lord, do we appreciate that, but how about sometimes we just don't fall behind to begin with? Our pitching ain't what it was, that's for damn sure. We got spoiled with our superior rotation and superior bullpen and superior closer. The honest to God truth is that we have a slightly above average bullpen, and a strong rotation. Sorry. No superiority here. Vogelsong has had a few rough starts, Lincecum is about as steady as a heroin addict trying to detox on ice skates, and Zito is just a wild card. That's the good news. The bad news is that Bruce Bochy, as solid as he is in so many decisions, continually sticks with the wrong guys until it's too late. You see what he does with Zito and Lincecum now. They're on a short-ass leash. He's starting to view them ...

SF Giants Rumors: G-men Are Rolling, Pence Hit Streak, Machi Debut and Nady The 2012 Pat Burrell

The NL West leading (4.5 games) San Francisco Giants came home yesterday after going 5-1 on the road in Houston and Chicago.   Yesterdays game seemed like it was going to be a frustrating let down as the Giants blew a 4-0 lead to be down 7-4. However, they kept chipping away and managed to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, and then won it in the bottom of the 10th with a...

Pablo Sandoval makes great diving catch

Pablo Sandoval would seem like an unlikely candidate to be involved in two of baseball’s most athletic plays of the season, but the Panda has turned in two amazing plays over the past few weeks. After Sandoval and Brandon Crawford teamed up for an unreal tandem catch last week, the hefty third baseman made highlight reels again last night after laying out to snag a (crappy) bunt...

D-backs can climb back into race vs. Giants

The San Francisco Giants boosted their already unwavering confidence by feasting upon two of the NL's worst teams during their recent road trip. Building on that momentum at home against a pair of division rivals could help extend their NL West lead. San Francisco seeks its sixth victory in seven games when it begins a six-game homestand against the slumping Arizona Diamondbacks...

Giants win on Scutaro's RBI single in 10th

SAN FRANCISCO -- Marco Scutaro was not considered a major addition when he was acquired from the Rockies by Giants general manager Brian Sabean just before the July 31 trading deadline. However, Scutaro has been a significant asset for the Giants, and he came up big again on Monday. He had three hits and was the hero with a two-out single to left, scoring Brandon Crawford with...

San Francisco Giants August Month in Review

The San Francisco Giants had an outstanding month of August going 18-11 that includes a very impressive 13-4 mark on the road and 5-7 record at home. The month saw three three-game sweeps on the road against the Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros. The month was all about offense as the team became potent when Angel Pagan returned back to the leadoff spot in...

SF Giants celebrate Star Wars Day (Video)

The San Francisco Giants held Star Wars Day at AT&T Park during Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and many fans got into the spirit by dressing up as their favorite characters. Giants 9, Diamondbacks 8 (10)

SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants blew a 4-0 lead, but scored a run in the ninth to tie it and managed to win in extra innings on Monday. Marco Scutaro had three hits and was the hero with a two-out single to left, scoring Brandon Crawford as the Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-8 in 10 innings. Crawford legged out an infield single to lead off the 10th inning....

Cahill faces NL West-leading Giants

The NL West-leading San Francisco Giants have one of baseball's best rotations, but they haven't been pitching up to their lofty standards lately. Madison Bumgarner is a part of this disturbing trend, and a start against the Arizona Diamondbacks might not help him out of his funk. Bumgarner tries to avoid losing a third straight start and put an end to his struggles with...

The Giants Win Different on the Journey to the NL West Title

This is not the team the Giants expected to make the September charge to take the 2012 National League West title. Not even close. But it is a team succeeding in strange and unconventional ways to the extent they are now third in National League wins with 76 (behind Cincinnati with 82 and Washington with 81), and fourth overall in baseball (tied with the New York Yankees). To understand...

Fantasy Baseball: Things are different in September

Some of this advice may seem a little repetitive to some of you, but I’m okay with that. I know that in addition to being fantasy players, most of you are serious baseball fans. Still, I know a few who like fantasy more than the actual game itself, and even as a die-hard fan, something really struck me on Thursday night (August 30) as I was watching the Giants and Astros play....

Hill, Kubel lift D-backs over Giants in 11

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Aaron Hill had a career-high five hits and Jason Kubel tripled home the tiebreaking run in the 11th inning to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks over the San Francisco Giants 8-6 on Tuesday night. The first-place Giants used 11 pitches, matching a major league record for extra-inning games. They remained 4 games ahead of Los Angeles in the NL West because the Dodgers...

Arizona Diamondbacks Blow Lead Again and Drop Game to San Francisco Giants in Extra Innings

For the second consecutive game the Arizona Diamondbacks have blown a late lead to a divisional rival. Yesterday J.J. Putz had his first blown save since May and Monday he repeated that performance against the San Francisco Giants who beat the Diamondbacks 9-8 in extra innings at San Francisco. The Diamondbacks had a 8-5 lead heading into the eighth inning which is a spot they...

If You Ain’t Cheatin’, You Ain’t Tryin’: The Dilemma of Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon

Pompous pundits, soccer moms, and the sports world at large have taken umbrage at the intravenous antics of San Francisco Giants’ Melky Cabera and the Oakland Athletics’ Bartolo Colon. Branded as cheats for using a banned “performance-enhancing” substance, that was detected by an analysis of a urine sample submitted by the players. Each player has accepted a 50 game suspension...
