Found April 19, 2012 on Hall of Very Good:
I'd like to imagine that my buddy Seth Swirsky is currently dusting off his mantle, preparing for the arrival of the next piece to his already impressive memorabilia shrine.

The cap that then-Texas Rangers outfielder Jose Canseco was wearing on May 26, 1993 is up for auction. And, yes, before you's THAT cap.

Here's the rather lengthy description from Heritage Auctions.

1993 Jose Canseco Game Worn Texas Rangers Cap from "Home Run Header." Painful and humiliating. And that's just Canseco's recent life. The self-established face of the Major Leagues' steroid era likely longs for the days when the bloopers reel and a sore noggin represented the extent of his troubles. Presented is the cap the Texas Rangers outfielder was wearing as he tracked a deep fly ball off the bat of Cleveland Indians utility infielder Carlos Martinez on May 26, 1993. As Canseco felt the crunch of the warning track under his feet he was momentarily blinded by the sun, turning his head just in time to allow the ball to bounce off the top of his skull and bound upwards and over the outfield wall for an assisted homer. Canseco himself authenticates the size 7 1/2 New Era brand Rangers cap, signing the brim "Jose Canseco #33, Cleveland 5/26/93." Underside of visor holds Canseco's markered number "33," and a small pen notation "5/26/93 used," likely written in the dugout after the game when it became apparent this cap had an important future role in the collectibles market. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph). Guide Value or Estimate: $800 - $1,200.

To make matters more surreal (yup, it's possible!), Canseco himself is hoping to purchase the cap for his personal collection.

My Rangers cap from the 4 Base Error header is in the Heritage auction right now would be great to get it back hope the bidding stays low

Now, I don't know about you, but I'm kinda hoping Canseco can someone put together the money to purchase the cap. Anyone want to help the guy out?

Jose Canseco Says He Wants to Play for Red Sox 'So Bad,' Almost Had Word With Alex Rodriguez

Jose Canseco would love nothing more than to make it back to the bigs. And if he did, you can bet he'd relish an opportunity to don a Boston jersey again. Canseco was among the former Red Sox in attendance for Fenway Park's 100th anniversary celebration on Friday, and he seemed to enjoy every minute of it. After flexing to the crowd, Canseco took in the game from the right...

Rangers P Robbie Ross dressed up as cowboy

Texas Rangers relief pitcher Robbie Ross underwent some friendly rookie hazing before Tuesday's game in Boston as he walked to the bullpen dressed as a cowboy. Your browser does not support iframes. Ross wore a cowboy hat over his regular baseball cap and a vest over his jersey. He also wore a pink cowgirl backpack with a pony hanging off of it and a rifle sticking out. Nothing...

Canseco’s Ex Rips Him on Twitter

A few days after news of Jose Canseco using DM’s to try to pick up chicks hit the internet, the former slugger’s ex-girlfriend took to Twitter to make 3 things clear: she’s not dating him, he’s crazy, and he’s broke. Check out the tweets below. Here’s hoping that Canseco goes on another profanity-laced Twitter rant in response to this attack.

Rangers prove they're the class of AL

These are baseball's most deceptive weeks. Bad teams play well. Good teams play poorly. The standings lie. Just not in the case of the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have allowed the fewest runs in the major leagues. The Rangers have scored the most runs in the major leagues. The Rangers own the best record in the major leagues. The Rangers are the best team in the major leagues...

Q&A: Mitch Moreland: Future Reliever?

A number of big-league position players were once pitchers. Blessed with strong arms, they excelled on the mound, as well as at the plate, against amateur competition. Only a few would be able to return to the hill with any chance of success against professional hitters. Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland is among them. In high school, Moreland logged a record of 25-2 and in his...

Baseball Sees Itself in Canseco

Great day I walked on to the field and then flexed for the crowd got a loud possitive cheer loved it — Jose Canseco (@JoseCanseco) April 21, 2012 The beauty and downfall of social media is that it allows complete transparency into the world of people. The invisible wall that once separated fans from who their athletes really are has been torn down. Some athletes bring us more...

Josh Hamilton had three singles and drove in a run for the Rangers, who won their sixth straight. It was Napoli's fourth home run in three games to go along with...

Rangers 10, Tigers 3

Yu Darvish pitched two-hit ball into the seventh inning and Mike Napoli homered for the fourth straight game, leading the Texas Rangers to a 10-3 rout of the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night for their seventh consecutive victory. The Rangers beat the Tigers in six games in last year's AL championship series, winning the clincher 15-5. This one wasn't much closer, with Texas...

Series Spotlight: Rangers at Tigers (April 19-22)

I really wanted to write about the Braves and Diamondbacks series, which could be a major turning point in the National League. But over in the AL, there is a CLASH OF THE TITANS that begins today: the Rangers travel to Detroit to take on the Tigers in a rematch of the 2011 ALCS. Thusfar this season, the Rangers and Tigers are far and away the class of the American League. The teams...

Mike Napoli Making Case to Join Babe Ruth, Aaron Boone Among All-Time Red Sox Killers (Video)

Mike Napoli is good at hitting home runs. He's even better at it against the Red Sox, apparently. Napoli homered again on Wednesday night after hitting two the night before and the Sox pitching staff has yet to find an answer for him. That got NESN Nation's Dan Duquette thinking about other past players who have destroyed the Red Sox, so he asked our Twitter followers for...

Tigers, Rangers rained out

Jim Leyland is as impressed with the Texas Rangers as he was during last year's playoffs. ''They're such a tremendously solid team in all areas - starting pitching, defense, bullpen, offense,'' the Detroit manager said Friday. ''They're a very good team, top to bottom. They have a lot of nice weapons, they have a lot of versatility. They're...

Rangers vs. Tigers: Here’s What I’m Watching

The Texas Rangers are in Detroit to take on the Tigers Thursday night to start a four game series that should be great baseball. We know the names, Josh Hamilton, Michael Young, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder…The Rangers and Tigers have shown to be the American League’s two best teams in this early portion of the season. Both teams have

Beckett Pitches Well, But Sox Still Fall 6-3 To Rangers

Josh Beckett really only made one mistake - a fastball to Mike Napoli that caught a little too much of the plate resulting in a 2-run home run that gave the Texas Rangers a 3-2 lead they wouldn't relinquish through the remainder of the game. The Rangers added 3 more runs in the top of the 8th to break the game open.Kevin Youkilis, moved to 6th in the lineup, put Boston on top...
