CHICAGO (AP) -- Asdrubal Cabrera hit a clutch two-run single in his return to the lineup and the Cleveland Indians used a throwing error by reliever Matt Thornton to rally for a 3-2 victory over the sloppy Chicago White Sox on Monday night.
Justin Masterson (4-1) pitched seven effective innings to help the Indians win their third straight. They have won three of four this season against the White Sox.
Cleveland had runners on first and second with one out in the eighth when Thornton threw wildly to second while trying to pick off Drew Stubbs. Both runners moved up as the ball went into center field.
Jason Kipnis struck out for the second out, but Cabrera hit a liner to center to give Cleveland a 3-2 lead. He clapped his hands as he rounded first following the big hit.

The Cleveland Indians have activated catcher Lou Marson from the 15-day disabled list (neck).
Marson had been on the disabled list for the first time in his career following a collision with Tampa Bay’s Desmond Jennings at home plate on April 9 in Tampa Bay. He was previously hitless on the season, walking twice in two games.
To make room for Marson on the 25-man roster, the Indians...

The best case for the Indians? Myers is down for a couple weeks and returns healthy.
The Akron Aeros nearly got over .500 in a week for the first time, but fell short after they dropped four of seven. The Aeros held leads deep into the game but stumbled to close out games, something manager Edwin Rodriguez remarked upon Sunday afternoon.
"When the players get to Double-A," Rodriguez said. "They have the talent to be here, but they have to develop...

Tyler Naquin (Carolina, CF) - 3-5, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI - Naquin's been strong all season, but tonight he took it to another level as he picked up his second and third doubles of the season as well as his 9th and 10th RBI. Naquin is now batting .303. While his OBP (.370) and tendency to strike out rather than walk (19 Ks to only 5 BBs) are a little worrisome, it is good to remember...
Rarely do players successfully transition to more difficult positions, but the Cleveland Indians believe second base prospect Tony Wolters can be the next infielder to be successful converted into a catcher. It’s common for a player to move to a less valuable position when his abilities fall short of major league competency, but occasionally a player will increase his value by...

8:01 PM – I just learned that today is Terry Francona’s birthday. Hours before, I heard that it’s also Jack Nicholson’s birthday. What a small world! I can only imagine the fun those two might have at a birthday party together, what with all of the chewing tobacco and nubile feminine attention. Sounds like a good time. You know what else sounds like a good time? Live...

The Indians will play the White Sox for the second series this season. The first series was very entertaining and I expect this one to be the same.

The Indians were a reeling bunch heading to Houston this weekend. They had just been swept by the Boston Red Sox and were essentially dominated for three games on their home field. Thursday night’s loss was a microcosm of the series; it was one missed offensive opportunity after another. Hitting the road sometimes is a good thing, especially for a team like the Indians who are...
