Rumors began to swirl on Chicago talk radio and in social media yesterday, that Chicago White Sox catcher, A.J. Pierzynski tested positive for performance enhancing drugs and would begin serving a 50-game suspension immediately, essentially being lost for the season. With the White Sox clinging to a one-game lead over the Detroit Tigers, losing the veteran catcher for the season...

Righty Jeremy Guthrie, who makes his next start Sunday at Chicago, knows he is auditioning for next year
-- not only with the Royals but for any club looking for starting pitching and most are. Guthrie, who can be a free agent after the season, had an awful start to this season with the Rockies,
where he was their season-opening starter. Guthrie went 1-5 with a 9.50 ERA in...
Jarrod Dyson has not started since Aug. 29, and it appears iffy he will start again this season. The Kansas City Royals outfielder has a strained right lat that restricts him from throwing. He can still be used as a pinch runner or pinch hitter. "Hopefully before the end of the season, I'll be back to throwing," Dyson said Thursday before the Royals lost 5-4 to...
David Laurila, curator of FanGraphs’ Q&A Series, talks with Royals excellent outfielder — and maybe most-underrated player — Alex Gordon and also excellent relievers Tim Collins and Greg Holland.

The Chicago White Sox will be without Adam Dunn and Kevin Youkilis for Friday night's series opener against the Kansas City Royals.
Dunn aggravated a right oblique strain that cost him two games last weekend.
Manager Robin Ventura said he hopes Dunn can return to the lineup Saturday. Dunn is second in the majors with 38 home runs. He is hitting .208 with a team-high 88 RBIs...

Ozzie Guillen offered his opinion on the controversial Stephen Strasburg shutdown in Washington, and as expected he used plenty of expletives to make his point.
Dayan Viciedo, Tyler Flowers and Paul Konerko each homered to back Chris Sale's six solid innings and lead the Chicago White Sox to a 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday.
Sale (16-6) scattered five hits and struck out six over six innings, winning his eighth straight decision at U.S. Cellular Field and helping Chicago end a six-game skid against Kansas City. He allowed...
(AP) -- Chris Sale was the surprising ace of the Chicago White Sox rotation in the first half, but he's labored over the last two months.
Sale will try to avoid a third straight losing start Saturday and help the White Sox end a frustrating six-game skid against the visiting Kansas City Royals.
Central-leading Chicago holds a one-game lead over Detroit and Sale (15-6, 2.93...
Ozzie Guillen has been known to throw a tirade or two, usually for very good reason. But him getting all bent out of shape because people want to see Stephen Strasburg keep pitching? Well, that seems a little misguided. Guillen was at his profanity-laced best Friday when asked about the Nationals' plan to not have Strasburg pitch beyond Sept. 12 in an effort to keep Strasburg...
