During the off season, Arizona Diamondbacks fans certainly had their hearts toyed with from the whirlwind of trade talk that constantly surrounded one of their favorite players.
While some of the fans prepared for Justin Upton’s inevitable trade, others held out hope that the outfielder would once again wear sedona red in 2013. When the deal was done and Upton was sent to play the best game in America with his brother in Atlanta, many were left wondering what would happen with the line up this year.
All of the changes the Diamondbacks made to their roster over the winter left my head spinning. Although many improvements were made, they put a lot of emphasis on fixing a major issue. Last season, they could not find any players to fit comfortably at short stop or third base. Defensively those players were lacking, and if they would improve their glove, their plate performance would suffer. After desperately trying to resolve the infield problem, the Diamondbacks ended up with a crowd...

The story of Rod Barajas’ missing World Series ring has a happy ending. Barajas, 37, saw his first regular action as a big leaguer with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001 — the year the team beat the New York Yankees in the World Series. Even though he only batted .160 in 51 games as a backup catcher that season, Barajas went 2-for-5 with a home run in the thrilling seven-game...
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- When Diamondbacks rookie left-hander Tyler Skaggs took the mound for his third start of spring training, it was evident pretty quickly something was different. He was more in command and more himself.
After a chat with manager Kirk Gibson, Skaggs has relaxed and begun focusing less on winning the fifth spot in the starting rotation, and in doing so, he has begun...
He wasn't actually injured. That's the good news for Arizona Diamondbacks fans. However, there was a brief period of fear and confusion as Wade Miley exited his spring game yesterday a full inning earlier than he was scheduled to.
Nick Piercoro of the Arizona Republic pointed it out on Twitter:
Expected #Dbacks LHP Wade Miley to go three innings but he's out...
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Mother Nature played the hidden ball trick on the Diamondbacks on Friday. The rain and gusty wind conditions were particularly hard on D-backs catcher Wil Nieves.
"I felt like a goalie, Nieves said. "I just saw shapes coming at me. Catching, I knew what was coming, so that was OK. But hitting, I couldnt really see it. You couldnt pick up the spin."...
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Diamondbacks rookies put on quite a spirited performance for teammates Saturday morning -- with an assist from some local high schoolers.
In an initiation routine orchestrated by veteran closer J.J. Putz, the rookies -- Nick Ahmed, Chris Owings, David Holmberh, Zeke Spruill, Chase Anderson, Tuffy Gosewisch, Ed Easley and Matt Davidson along with first-year assistant...
Current Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Rod Barajas was a member of the Diamondbacks World Series winning team in 2001. Of course being on that team you get a coveted World Series ring. Barajas got his ring but he lost it four years ago.
Four years later Barajas had the good fortune of recovering his World Series ring.
MLB.com's Steve Gilbert tells the story.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. After suffering through a death-by-inches existence for the first seven weeks of 2012, Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz turned lethal. Closers Craig Kimbrel and Aroldis Chapman were among the top eight finishers for the NL Cy Young award, and had Putz found his mechanics earlier, he might have joined them.
When Putz got back to his normal delivery in late May, he...
Michael Brantley of the Indians isn't the only player looking to return from spike-related injury. Tony Campana of the Arizona Diamondbacks was spiked on Thursday and had to receive eight stitches. The injury will keep him out of action for a short period of time.
Jack Magruder of Fox Sports Arizona says Capana will likely miss a week.
#Dbacks OF Campana takes eight...
So far on the countdown, the only team that I was down on that some have disagreed with is the Milwaukee Brewers. The pitching is going to be a concern and I do see them taking a major step back this season. Really, from here forward, most teams are more evenly matched. However, I have the Diamondbacks next on my list, ranking them #23 on the 30-1 MLB countdown previews.
Khris Davis hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, his third straight game with a homer, and the Milwaukee Brewers rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 on Thursday.
Eric Chavez gave Arizona a 2-0 lead in the third with a two-out home run just to the right of the batters' eye in center field, his first of the spring.
Milwaukee tied it at 2 in the...
The Diamondbacks are definitely look different this year. The focus of quality, hard working players meant they dealt a few key players; will this new strategy work out?
