From Cal recruiting coordinator and pitching coach Mike Neu... They did real well in Northern CA (8 players) and that is the major key, in my opinion, for Cal to stay strong.  They seem to have their best teams when their best players are from the area.  Cal Becker RHP 6-1 185 R/R Redwood Kentfield CA (BAWS 2011) Max Dutto INF 6-0 190 L/R San Ramon Valley Danville CA Mitchell Kranson INF/C 5-10 185 L/R De La Salle Danville CA Zach Hoffpauir OF 6-0 205 R/R Centennial Glendale AZ Jordan Talbot RHP 6-4 190 R/R Aptos Aptos CA (BAWS 2010) Nick Halamandaris 1B/OF 6-2 200 L/L R.L. Stevenson Carmel CA Ryan Mason RHP 6-5 195 R/R Placer Placer CA Collin Monsour RHP 6-3 190 R/R Sant Ignatuis San Francisco CA (BAWS 2011) Jake Schulz LHP 6-3 185 L/L La Costa Canyon Carlsbad CA Grant Diede OF 5-11 180 R/L Acalanes Lafayette CA (BAWS 2011 Most Outstanding Player) In this group I think Halamandaris might be the key guy.  When I was around him with the NTIS team that went to North Carolina he impressed me as a kid, as a leader and with his professional approach to the game.  He also has BIG power and can play a good 1B or even move to the OF.  Becker has a big time arm and is a tremendous athlete.  He could be tough to keep come draft time if he has a BIG spring because he is going to put up some good radar readings this spring.  Dutto has a chance to be an everyday middle infielder early in his career and he will also contribute with the bat.  With performance this spring he could also earn draft consideration, made all the more likely with his big showing at the WWBA tournament in Jupiter in October... when he really hit well in front of a bunch of pro guys.  Kranson can hit but will need to find a position he can play at the Pac-10 level.
